"So... what do you know about this place?" The other girl, Luna, asked me.
"Nothing really. I did just get here..." I replied.
She nodded in agreement. "Fair enough. Just one question."
"Yeah?"
"Do you like wolves?"
"Meh. Never seen one... Except before I came here.." Luna looked at me, her gold eyes twinkling with excitement.
"Do tell?" She prompted, giggling. I giggle with her.
"Well, I was coming home from my friend's house, and I cut through the woods -"
"Which woods?" Luna asks, interrupting me.
"Greymore Wood" I reply. Then I continue with the story. "I heard rustling in the bushes, and a wolf pops out. Some more come out and surround me. Then they start howling. But the weird thing is..." I trail off, embarrassed. The next but must sound crazy.
Luna looks at me, her eyes wide. I guess she thinks I left her there for a cliffhanger.
"Don't laugh, but I think I could understand them." I manage to get out. But Luna doesn't bust out laughing. She remains deadly serious.
"What were they saying?" She asks.
"I can't remember" I reply. That is too personal.
Luna sighs. "Oh, well, never mind. My newest friend has the memory span of a goldfish" She says, sarcastically.
I raise my eyebrow. She looks at me, then huffs.
"Fine, I'll tell you about the necklace. Or at least what I guessed." Luna says. She sits back, grabbing her mug of hot chocolate, and taking a sip. "I already pretty much know about the necklaces. The needle and fluids insert a chemical into your bloodstream, which allows you to be controlled as long as the controller has a sample of your blood. When we join the pack, we put a drop of our blood onto a plate. I'm guessing that's what the alpha uses."
"Alpha?" I question. She nods.
"The only guy without a necklace. The one on the highest bench. The oldest. You know?"
I nod. She smiles and continues.
"I'm not as sure with your wristband though. All the different fluids are new to me. I guess the silver one" She points to it "is to help you shift."
"Shift?"
"Yeah. You're a werewolf, right?"
I pause. A werewolf? I didn't know. I could have guessed everyone else is a werewolf, with the gold eyes and the wolfish ways, but me? I wouldn't think so...
As if reading my mind, Luna smiles. "Your not a full one yet. You can't shift or whatever. But look." She pulled down her top at the shoulder to reveal a tattoo. It was of a full moon, but the silver seemed to shimmer on her skin.
"Depending on your rank, the moon shape will be different. it only forms your state when you first shift at your own will." Luna saw my confused look and shrugged. "Don't ask me how I know. I just do."
I shrug as well. "But what about the other vile' s? What do they do?"
Luna grins at me. "That one," She said, pointing to the clear one. "Is the one that's in the necklace. It's there to get used to your skin and blood and stuff. This one is to destroy any pain you may feel due to this injection. Before it, millions of werewolves died."
"There are other packs?" I asked, shocked.
"Yes, but ours is the last one to use these." She motioned to the necklaces. "Most packs grow by trust and accidents. But this pack is the largest, and sneakiest. Our alpha adds to his pack by forcing his pack to give the innocent humans the necklaces."
"But how does the necklace make the humans turn into..." I trailed off. I couldn't bring myself to say 'werewolf'.
"This liquid." Luna says, holding up the silver one again "Not only helps you shift, but lets out your beast."
"Beast?" I was feeling so ignorant.
"Yeah, logically your 'inner wolf'. Its what you shift into. It and you are the same. It's easier if you accept it, or it'll keep fighting to get free."
"Okay, this conversation is not at all awkward..." I say. It's like your mother talking about you as a baby, while your friends are round.
Luna grins. "I have more to tell you!"
I sighed. I did want to know more about the whole werewolf thing. "okay, proceed." I say sarcastically.
She grins again. "I know you're wondering about your clothes."
My grin drops. WTF?!
She continues smiling at me, now quite creepily. "When your clothes disappeared when you were in the shower. That happened, right?" She doesn't wait for an answer. "We have... cameras all over the mansion. Packhouse, as some call it. When you were in the shower, some creepy guy was forced to sneak in, take your clothes, and leave you with those" She motioned to my clothes. Then sighed sadly. "With all the same clothes, no-one is different. That is all part of the plan, but-"
"Plan?"
Her eyes widened. Her grin dropped. She hadn't meant to say that.
I looked at her. Then smiled. A creepy smile. "So someone was in the same room as me when I was naked?"
The tension in the air was released. She smiled at me, equally as creepy. "Yes..." She said, drawing out the 's'.
After that, we didn't ask any more questions. We just watched random stuff on YouTube. Nothing more was said, but several times, I looked around to see Luna watching me closely, not Pewds. I pretended not to notice, putting all my attention on Slender Woods, and Trouble in Terrorist Town. But my mind was going crazy with thoughts.
Luna had put across the idea that she was a resistor. Yet, she said that she tried to act differently. Tried being the main word. Plus, when she was explaining...
She had a fazed look around her eyes.
