After my kinda sleepover with Luna, I said goodbye to her (at 10am, if I may add) and went to the pack house (or that's what Luna told me it was called). for food. Bacon, eggs and tomato. Yay.
I wasn't really willing to eat anything that these people served me, because of the needles. And stuff. But if I didn't eat that, I would probably starve. So I ate it.
It was thankfully normal. While eating, I surveyed the pack. Like Luna had said (Gah! I'm relying too much on her!) they were all wearing the same clothes. No glasses or anything in sight. I was part of a sea of black.
And I was alone in that ocean. No friend anywhere. I then realized how much I missed Zoe. And my brother. Even him, yes, my annoying crazy little brother, who went by the name of Alviss. God, I even missed that? I was lonely.
Once the food was finished, the plates were put away, and the pack walked out the doors. But they weren't hypnotized. They seemed excited to be going. They were talking together, ignoring me. I was used to that feeling, thanks to a certain b**** by the name of... Well, let's not accuse anyone yet.
I followed. I was interested yet also surprised. What could be exciting enough to get the whole pack to a place without hypnosis?
Shifting. Duh, inner voice.
Now I was excited. But I tried to keep a poker face, looking board.
Soon, we arrived at the edge of a very familiar looking forest. Greymore woods. Great. So all this time, I had been close to home without realizing it? Seriously?
I shook my head at my foolishness. Someone started talking. She didn't listen. Thank God she wasn't like that in school.
Suddenly, everyone's eyes were on her. She was facing a wave of stares. She shook her head, trying to get rid of those cheesy water jokes. The shake seemed to calm the pack down, as the man who had been talking said a few more things as Luna jogged up to the gathering.
"Hey. What did I miss?" She whispered to me. Well, maybe I wasn't completely alone...
"Tag guy has been talking tones," I replied quickly. She nodded and smiled.
"Yeah, he does that every time there's a new bee. So generally every week." She replied. As the pack was dismissed, Luna and I walked with them to the forest. "So, you joining us?" Luna asked.
"Uh... Yeah?" I guessed. She couldn't tell the difference. She grinned at me.
"Race you," She said, and suddenly ran. I shouted, surprised an ran after, laughing. I hadn't had that much fun in ages.
Finally, I caught up with Luna. She was Latin on the floor, gasping for breath. I sat down next to her.
"Sooo... The place is nice" I said, looking around. It was nice, with a small glistening pond and shimmering green grass, with a patch in the trees, where the sun could shine down on us.
She nodded, still on the ground. A few moments of awkward silence dragged by until Luna was finally hydrated enough. She smiled at me.
"Have you got any signs yet?" She asked. I shook my head. Last night... Or this morning, she had told me some of the werewolf effects. Most of them sounded cool - heightened senses, faster and stronger and stuff like that. Oh, and best of all, each werewolf gets a different ability. That was what sounded coolest to me.
We stayed under the sun for ages. What seemed like minutes were hours. Soon, it was dark. Luna noticed this before me. I was too engaged in beauty.
"I have to go," She said, sitting up and jolting me out of my daydream. I sat up next to her.
"Why?" I asked. Then I saw the full moon. Oh, right, the whole werewolf thing. She nodded, reading my thoughts in my face. "I only have a few moments until the wolf takes over. It didn't understand humans aren't food. You need to go. Now." I nodded as well and got up. I looked down at Luna.
"Goodbye, for now, Luna," I said. She raised a hand in farewell, allowing me to leave without feeling too awkward. I stumbled through the woods blindly, unaware of where I was going. Then I heard a howl.
I froze. More howls joined in with the first, weaving in and out and overlapping. These howls made no sense to me. That meant they were preparing to hunt. I swallowed. And ran
I was nearing another clearing when the first wolf lept out of nowhere. It pinned me to the floor, and stood over me, growling. Its Brown fur was wind ruffled and tattered. And its eyes were hungry. Yet part human. The human side of the beast could watch what was happening.
This Brown wolf sniffed at me, then my clothes. It was obviously confused. It yipped out loud. Again, I couldn't tell what it was saying. That was pure wolf speak.
Another wolf bounded out of the Bush. This one was pure white yet seemed... deadly. That worried me.
It looked at me and barked at the wolf pinning me down. It looked down at me, snarled one more time and got off me. I enriched my clothes off, standing up. Then the white wolf nudged the back of my leg and walked forward. I guess... It wanted me to follow?
I followed. It looked over its shoulder at me in approval. Other wolves popped out of the wood, but one look from the white wolf would silence their snarls. Some of the wolves stuck in my mind. Two giant ones, who looked exactly alike. A small excited pup, who got underfoot and almost squashed. One beautiful wolf with silver fur and a small frame. I would have to learn who was who.
Finally, me and the white wolf - who I was pretty sure was the Alpha - arrived at the edge if the forest, near the packed house. I walked to words the packed house...
The white wolf growled.
I turned back. "What?"
It yipped at me. But I could understand the one word it was saying.
Stay.
I huffed and sat down on the damp grass. This was going to be a long night.
