Finally, morning arrived. My butt had frozen and my toes were probably dead and had frostbite. But the rising sun warmed my back up quickly. I got up on my frozen feet, swearing quietly in Swedish. Yes, I know Swedish. Damn Pewdiepie, his influence.
I waited outside the woods, waiting for the pack. As I was about to give up and head back to the pack house, Luna appeared, fully clothed. I blinked. In all the werewolf books I had read, the werewolf tore their clothes when they shifted. Maybe she'd taken her clothes off before shifting..?
"No, I did not take my clothes off before shifting," Luna said, sounding board.
"Wh-What? Did I say that aloud?" I asked. She nodded. I facepalmed. God, I was such an i***t.
She grinned at me, a sharper tooth wolfish grin. "Come on, let's get something to eat"
After a fulfilling breakfast of bacon, eggs and sausage, with the pack arriving in bits with bleary eyes and drooping arms, Luna and I went for another walk around. Thank God it was the summer holidays.
Wait..... S**t. Parents.
"Luna.... Will I ever go back home?" I asked quietly.
She liked at me with hurt in her eyes. "Why? Do you not like it here?" She asked.
"Yes, but my family..." I trailed off. Luna nodded.
"Yeah, I had a family once." She said.
"Once?" I quoted
She nodded. "The alpha had to kill them."
I gasped. "Why?"
"They purchase out search parties to me. Bought up a hubbub. Obviously, soon, they would find the pack. And we couldn't have that. So they had to die." She sighed wistfully. I wish I remembered their names."
I stared at her. "you can remember their names?" She shook her head.
"One of the side effects of becoming a werewolf. The inner wolf will eat your old memories."
"So will I ever go back?"
She sighed again. "It's unlikely. Probably not."
Alviss' s face flashed through my head again. I would never see him, or my parents? Ever?
We continued walking. Soon, we arrived at the clearing where we had spent yesterday. I looked around. "Why are we here?" I asked
She looked at me. "There are three nights with full moons. Tonight is the completely full moon. New werewolves shift tonight... If they're ready." She looked at me. Oh, right.
I nodded. "Okay"
She nodded back. "I thought we could put you into a test. See if you have any signs."
"Okay," I said again.
We spent half an hour testing my hearing and smell (generally I was a blind comedian I had to find Luna.) but that didn't work. Next, we tried my strength and speed. Again, a fail. Finally, we had a test for my ability. This was done by her testing stud on me. Like throwing m out of trees to see how I would react.
"God sake!" I shouted finally. "That hurt!" I had just been thrown a 'stick' (log) to see if I had super reflex. "Can we please stop this? Before you kill me?" I snapped.
She grinned, her golden eyes lighting up in the moonlight -
Moonlight? S***.
Luna's grin dropped as quickly as a speeding missile when she realized what was going on. "Run" She whispered, and fell to the floor, gasping in pain. I would have loved to of stayed to help her, but... Well, you know. Wolves.
Needle prick.
I thought Luna had put that wristband 'down'. I guess not. The fluids entered my bloodstream and...
Nothing happened for a moment. I kept running.
Then I heard a rustle. I picked up a stick and raised it high protectively. But the bush next to me was still. I looked around in the dark, yet still saw the rustling bush. I relaxed. Just a rabbit.
Wait...
Damn.
The first sign. Heightened Senses.
So I was a werewolf. Yippie.
