The Quiet Girl

Amara was a shy girl who loved to sing. She often sang when she was alone in her room because it was the only place she felt truly free and safe. Her voice was soft and gentle, but very beautiful. Singing made her happy, even when everything else felt difficult in her life.

Her favorite artist was Ariana Grande. Amara listened to her songs every single day without getting tired of them. Her favorite songs were “Boyfriend” and “7 Rings.” She knew every lyric by heart and could sing both songs perfectly from beginning to end. Sometimes, she would close her eyes and imagine herself standing on a big stage, holding a microphone, while thousands of people cheered for her name.

Her room showed her love for music clearly. The walls were decorated with Ariana Grande posters and pictures. She had notebooks filled with lyrics, ideas, and small songs she had written herself. Every page represented her dream. Amara wanted to become a singer one day and also meet Ariana Grande in real life. That dream kept her going, even when she doubted herself.

But at school, Amara was completely different.

At Bright Future Secondary School, she was known as the quiet girl. She didn’t talk much and preferred to stay alone. During lessons, she always sat at the back of the class, trying not to be noticed. She didn’t have close friends, and most students barely talked to her. She didn’t know how to fit in, so she stayed silent.

Even in music class, where she loved the subject the most, Amara never spoke up. She would listen carefully to everything the teacher said, but she never volunteered or joined performances. She was scared that if she tried, people would judge her.

The reason for her fear came from her past.

In her old school, Amara once gathered the courage to sing during a class activity. She thought it would be a normal moment, maybe even a happy one. But instead, everything went wrong. Some students started laughing the moment she began singing. Others whispered and made rude comments about her voice. One student even told her she should stop because she wasn’t good enough.

That moment broke something inside her.

After that day, Amara stopped singing in front of people completely. She made a silent promise to herself that no one would ever hear her voice again in public. She began to believe that staying quiet was safer than risking humiliation again.

When she moved to Bright Future Secondary School, she hoped things would be better. But she still carried the same fear with her. During break time, while other students laughed, played, and talked freely, Amara would sit alone in quiet places around the school. Sometimes under a tree, sometimes near the back of the school building. She watched others from a distance, but never joined them.

Still, deep inside her heart, her dream never died. She still wanted to sing. She still wanted to stand on a stage without fear. She wanted people to hear her voice and understand that she had talent.

At night, when everything was quiet, Amara would sometimes sing softly in her room again. It was her secret. No one at school knew about it. Those moments were the only times she felt like herself again.

But Amara didn’t know that her life was about to change.

A simple school announcement was coming—one that would pull her out of her silence and push her into a world she never expected. A moment that would test her fear, her courage, and her hidden talent.
