After breakfast, Chris went off with John and Thomas to the games room. He couldn't get Charlotte out of his head. 'Whats up with you?' John asked Chris while we was setting up a game. 'Dad reckons I've found my mate.' He replied. 'Already? But your 12.' John questioned. 'Its different for Alphas.' Thomas joined the conversation. 'Elder Edwards said an Alpha can recognise his mate from an early age if their bond is strong enough.' 'The thing is, I feel wrong for having the connection.' Chris went on. 'Why?' Both John and Thomas Asked. 'She's 5.' 'What!' They both shouted, staring at Chris like he had two heads. 'She's uncle Walters daughter, Alpha of Whitetop Lake.' He darted to explain, 'While we were visiting, I mentioned the weird connection I felt towards Charlotte, but dad and uncle Walter was over the moon.' 'Maybe its because they are such close friends they're happy there children may become mates.' John tried to reassure his friend. 'Uncle Walter explained shes not just one Alphas daughter but two as aunt Audrey is an alphas daughter too.' Chris explained. 'That explains it then,' Thomas said, ' Bonds and connections are felt at a younger age for wolfs with strong Alpha bloodlines.' Thomas revealed. 'Come on, let's play. I wanna try get her out of my head for a bit.' With that said, the boys started playing games on the TV. My office now Peter mind linked his luna Rachel and his beta, Christopher. 'Whats wrong?' Rachel asked Peter as they entered his office. Both Christopher and Rachel noticed that Peter hadn't turned away from the TV as they entered. They both walked over to where he was standing. 'Local authorities have announced no survivors were found by the fire brigade during their search at Whitetop lake. The whole village was took out by a wildfire in that area.' The news anchor reported. 'Peter.' Rachel started to cry. Peter pulled her into his chest to comfort her. Christopher turned the TV down and turned to Peter. 'I'm so sorry Alpha.'Christopher expressed his condolences. I don't want to talk infront of Rachel with the state she is in. Give me half an hour to confort her and ill be back. Christopher nodded. Peter left the room with Rachel and heading up to their bedroom. He laid her on the bed as he knew she gets tired from too much crying. It didn't take her long to fall asleep. He went back down to his office after she settled where Christopher was waiting for him. 'Get one of your men to find out what happened,' Peter opened Christopher. 'Yes sir, but the news stated it was caused by a wildfire,' Christopher replied. Peter looked at him, 'Do you really think a wildfire would wipe out the whole village but hardly touch the trees?' He asked. 'No, ill get them to find out if there was any evidence of fowl play,' Christopher reassured Peter. 'I have to tell Chris.' Peter started 'While we were their he admitted he felt a connection with Charlotte, Walters oldest daughter. Elders have told us both having strong Alpha bloodlines, it's possible for our children to feel their bond early with their mate.' He explained. 'Do you want me to call him here?' Christopher asked. 'No. I think its better if we go find him.' They both left the office and headed to the games room as they had a feeling he would be there with his friends. 'Chris we need to talk,' Peter stated as he entered the room. All the boys looked round. 'Alpha, would you like us to leave?' Thomas asked. 'No. Chris will need his friends when we have finished with the news we have to discuss with him.' Chris looked confused. 'Dad? What news?' He questioned his father. 'Its been announced on the news that there was a wildfire to the south east of Bradwell.' Peter started to explain. 'Its been reported that a whole village was wiped out by it.' With the words his father was saying, Chris dropped the remote he was holding and fell to his knees. 'Charlotte.' Peter rushed to be by his sons side during his time of need. John and Thomas went over to where Christopher was standing. 'Whats happened? Thomas asked. 'A wildfire started last night and took out the whole village over at Whitetop lake. None of Walters pack survived.' He answered the boys. The boys went back over to there friend to comfort him. They new by what he was saying early that he's just lost out on the chance of ever being with his first mate. Throughout the day the news kept reporting the fire. Chris ending up going up to the forth floor where his bedroom was and locking himself inside. The news spread fast around the pack and everyone expressed there condolences to the main pack members. Rachel woke and found Peter in his office, 'Where's Chris?' she asked 'He took himself up to his room because all the bloody news keeps reporting is that so called wildfire!' Peter replied. 'What do you mean, 'so called wildfire?' she quizzed him. 'Christopher has got one of his men to travel into town to found out if any evidence was found of fowl play, it hasn't been that hot has it to cause a wildfire?' he explained to Rachel. 'I know this incident happened so unexpectedly darling, but I dont think anyone is to blame.' Rachel expressed her feelings on the matter. Meanwhile Chris didnt know what to do with himself. Everywhere he went a radio or a TV were talking about the deverstating wildfire that took the lives of a village. 'Moon goddess, I prey you allow me to have a second chance, even though I never got to have my first with Charlotte,' Chris thought to himself. The moon goddess didnt always grant second chances on those who have rejected or lost there mates. Alot of the time rejection stopped them from having one but those lost by death, always seem to be given that chance of happiness.
