Chapter Six

1049 Words
Being only 5 and of school age, Frank and Grace new they couldn't put Charlotte straight to work. Mark would start asking questions of why does he have to go to school if she doesn't. They enrolled her at Marks school and registered her as an orphan of a rogue they gave sanctuary to who died from posioning. They registered themselves as her legal guardians but they never declared her as a member of the pack. This way they were able to keep her in their possession. Frank got a couple of the younger omegas to ask Charlie if she new when her birthday was and to make sure she never told anyone where she came from. It turned out she was to turn 6 in a week, which was 3 days after Marks. They asked any of the pack members, who had girls of her age, if they had any unwanted clothes they could give her. They never gave her a room as they didn't want her to get to comfortable so they gave her the cupboard under the stairs. She attended school with Mark and Megan when it started in September but was put to work with the omegas to do small chores around the house to earn her food. She was never allowed to play with the children of the pack house and was always sent to her room if she had finished them. She was only to help with tidying of the living room and helping with the laundry as they didn't want her to break anything. Rumours of a rogues child started to spread around the wolves at the schools, both primary and secondary. It didn't take to long before children figured out it was her, with a little help from Megan. The rumour had reached Chris at secondary school, but he never paid much attention. He'd only just started his first year at secondary school and wanted to concentrate on his work. The summer was hard for him as he struggled to come to terms with the loss of Charlotte. As the years went on it wasn't just home life that was bad, but also at school. She got bullied for being a rogue and the way she dressed. Not all the clothes she was given fit as she was smaller than the girls her age. She was never helped to keep her hair clean or tidy and alot of the time the clothes were old and a bit dirty. She didn't always get to eat at home as she never finished her chores on time or wanted to. Just because she wasn't allowed to say where she originally came from, it didn't stop her from sticking up for herself towards the bullies at school or the other pack children. Because of this she would get beat by Grace or the other children and sent to her room with no food. Sometimes she would get into fights at school and come home with cuts and bruises. She was never given medical attention so she had to tend to them herself. Her chores started to involve cleaning most rooms, including the bedrooms and even setting and clearing the table everytime the pack ate. She was never allowed to sit with the pack at meal times, so when she did get to eat, she had to do it to her room. Megan never liked it if she was in her room for too long and kicked her to the floor every chance she got. Charlie always picked herself up and continued the work she was doing. It was coming towards the end of the school year, Charlie and Marks last year of primary school. Charlie was dreading going up to secondary school because of how awful primary school was. The older Mark got the worse the bullying got and he even got his friends to join in. Everytime he walked by her he always pulled on her hair or tripped her up. He even made a mess of his room and ordered her to come clean it even though she done it earlier on in the evening. How hot the summer got it was hard to keep cool with all the chores Charlie had to do. She even had to start cooking for the pack house. 'Charlie!' Screams came from the dinning room. 'You are late with our lunch!' Grace howled. 'Alright, keep her hair on.' Charlie replied as she entered the dinning room with her hands full of trays. 'What did you say?' Grace hissed. 'Coming Luna,' Charlie changed her answer. 'Once you have done that, I want you in the laundry room cleaning all our bedding ready for tonight.' Demanded Frank. 'Yes Alpha,' Charlie huffed and hung her head. She new it was going to be even hotter in there and she was going to get sweaty. It was already hard to get washed in this house as Grace never let me use the guest bathroom to keep clean. Any chance she got to go outside, she found a small stream that she noticed no one visited. Every night the pack settled in their rooms, Charlie would head out to the stream to wash herself and try and clean her hair. She never had it cut so it grew all the way down her back. She was given a tooth brush, some soap and a brush when she came to the house but not a bathroom to use. She was only allowed to use the down stairs bathroom which only had a toilet and sink in it. Secondary scool got harder as the beating at the pack house got worse. Charlie missed a lot of school as her wounds needed time to heal. While she was at school though, she constantly got a strange warm feeling as she walked around the corridors. She could never understand why she got the feeling so she ignored it. Else where on the school grounds, Chris was finishing off his last year of further education before he left school to go work with his father at Maxwell Industries. He also kept getting a warm feeling in his heart but he ignored it as he knew he lost his mate years ago in the wildfire at Whitetop Lake.
