6 Addie I really didn’t like the idea of leaving Joanna alone in her house — it felt awfully isolated, even though she assured me that her closest neighbor was less than five minutes away — but I knew I didn’t have much say in the matter. She kept reiterating that she was fine, and I had to accept her words at face value. Besides, she’d promised she would call Eleanor if she started to feel at all strange.
