Still, Paul acted as if this was all only ordinary. “Yes,” he said, “let me introduce you to Kat. Kat, this is Tom.” The young man shook her hand. He kept his eyes on her eyes and did not visibly appear to check her out too much. In truth, she probably checked out his buff body more than he hers.
“Nice to meet you, Kat,” Tom said.
Master handed him the signed check and said, “Tom, why don’t you go get two more flutes, and you and Claire come join us.”
“Very good, sir,” Tom said, as conversationally as if he had just been tipped and told nothing more was required at the time. Then he departed.
