I woke up chained to the floor, in a hog tie and and made of silver. it was hard to breathe. I opened my eyes, and that b*stard had even thrown a silver net over top of the chains.
Someone was scared that I would get away.
F*ck. This really hurt.
I wanted to roar out in pain, but I didn't want Coach to know I was awake yet. Or give him that satisfaction.
my wolf was struggling to stay still, and then she just stopped.
Mates are here, she said to me happily I could feel her mood change.
yeah, I bet I said back to her. this is probably their idea.
she whinnied at that.
just then, the coach entered the room to check on me while he was on the phone.
I closed my eyes to pretend I was still asleep.
I heard his camera snap, "See, she's right here. now I want the money or I won't tell you the address that we are at."
"ok, we will send you half, then you give us the address. when we come to collect you will have the other half." said a voice I haven't heard in years, and my body stiffened. I felt the cold clamp of fear down my spine, and my wolf growled.
the man on the phone started laughing, "Yes, that is her, isn't it."
Coach looked at me with a sneer that turned into a smirk as his phone chirped with an alert.
He hung up and typed out a message. My money would be on the address to this place.
"Nothing personal darling, but the price on that pretty little head of yours is worth too much."
"I hope the three of you rote in hell."
"Three? Oh, no, they have nothing to do with this. They did call me for advice. It helps being a father figure to them and all. but no. those boys might be half the Alpha their father was, but they do believe that you are their mate. and you'll come back to them."
"Well, they are at least smart enough to not have you as their Bata. unlike their father." I spat at him.
"Don't you dare speak about him like that. he was a great alpha, ruled with an iron fist. no one was allowed to sneeze in the wrong direction." he said with pride. "allowing the humans to move into our territory has made us week as a species."
Squatted down to look me better in the eyes, "I might not like everything your Alpha does, but at least he's kept the humans out of his territory. keeps him stronger than most that way. his people believe that he will keep them safe from their enemies."
With that, there was a flash, and a black wolf was on him. Snarling and biting, the wolf got some good bites in before Coach got his composer and threw the wolf off.
Mates are here!
this wolf was so beautiful in the way it moved. like the fight was an art form a dance that he has done a thousand times. Coach and this wolf fought each other as if they knew what the other person was going to do as they were doing it. like they have both fought each other thousands of times. the wolf took a second to look at me in the eyes, and I knew who that wolf was it was Josiah. so they did know what the other would do.
Coach took advantage of that split second distraction and was able to grab a board that had fallen during their fight. Coach swings the board at Josiahs face and smacks him straight in the muzzle, knocking Josiah off his feet and lands on his side.
I start to feel the net move over me and a slight hissing sound.
"it's OK, baby, we are here." Uriah hissed while pulling the net off of me. as it moved off my face, I felt like I could breathe again. after the net was off my body, he made an easy time with the cuffs as if he's done that a lot.
he picked me up and held me in his arms while looking over my shoulder at the fight. I felt his body stiffen before I heard a pretty big blow to the wall beside us.
I looked over, and Josiah was climbing out of the wall he was bleeding. he shook his fur and looked at us, and nodded at Uriah.
Uriah turned to leave, "Set me down and go help your brother."
he growled, "I am never letting you out of our sight again."
"That's a bit ridiculous." i said, while struggling to be sat down, his grip tightened on my my body.
I struggled to get out of his arms, but he held on tight.
"Besides, now, he's done toying with Coach."
Josiah started to grow bigger than he was. His teeth looked sharper, too. he pressed his front paws into the concrete, and the concrete cracked a little. he let out a roar that sounded more like a jackal than a wolf. as he walked, his body morphed more, bringing himself up on two legs, and his front paws turned into claws on almost human hands. he kept the wolf head, but the fir on his body receded, leaving the skin more exposed. when he was finishing, he looked almost like what the Egyptians put on their walls to represent Anubis.
Uriah put his lips to my ear and whispered, "This is why you don't f*ck with us."
Coach was already sweating from the fight, but once Josiah finished the transformation, he was looking for a way out. with his hands up in surrender.
Josiah stalked over to the man , picked him up, and tossed him across the room, not to the nearest wall. but across the warehouse and started running after him. I saw Coach hit the ground at almost the far side of the warehouse. Josiah was there within moments and picked him back up and threw him back down this way towards us.
Coach hit the ground, and it dented the concrete. he was breathing heavily, I'm sure all his bones were broken in his body.
I tapped Uriah for him to set me down on my feet. he did but still had his hands around my waste to keep me steady. though I didn't need him much, the silver and wolfsbane was almost out of my system. we walked over to Coach, and Josiah walked up behind us as I looked down at Coach.
I spat at him. I didn't have anything to say to the man. I was about to find something so I could finish the man off. but Josiah reached down with both hands and dug his claws into Coachs neck, put his foot down on his chest, and pulled his head off.
we were silent for a moment, giving the man a moment of silence in respect. He was like a father to them. though looking at them in the eyes, neither one seemed bothered by what just happened.
Uriah turned me around and started walking us out of the building.
maybe they really do mean f*ck the pack for me. They just killed a man who was like a father to them. maybe they really do mean Mates.
maybe!
"Mates, huh?" I said with a smile on my face.
"Yes!" he said, exasperated.
the black wolf of Josiahs came trotting up beside us with his tail wagging and his tongue sticking out. like he just went on the best walk of his life.
I stopped us before we walked out of the building.
"ok, yes." Uriah turned me around to face him. Gave me a big kiss and picked me up, and spun me around.
Josiah started howling and prancing around us.
when Uriah Stat me back on my feet, I knelt down and burred my face in Josiahs fur. and gave him a kiss between his eyes.
I stood up, "ok, first thing. my name isn't Maggie. It's Cora... now let's go prepare for war."
