The air felt thick as I led Carter up the stairs to our room, the tension between us almost tangible. His words echoed in my mind—mark me again. I had expected hesitation, doubt, but instead, he had chosen trust. Trust in me, in our bond, and in what we could become together. As soon as we reached the door to our room, I could feel my wolf stir. Morrigan was more present than ever, her desire to claim Carter just as strong as mine. There was something about this second mark that went beyond the physical. It was a deeper connection, a merging of our essences. And I knew Morrigan wanted it as much as I did.
