Chapter 4 Sofia Hayes POV “What are you doing here? How did you get in here?” I ask. He smiles. “I know what’s happening. You only married Hayes because you wanted to make me jealous.” he says. “I frown. What the hell are you talking about? I married Rook because I love him. It has nothing to do with you. You were the last thing on my mind when I married Rook. Also if I truly cared about you and what you’ve done over the last five years I would have sort revenge over the s**t you’ve put me throughout our marriage and relationship. You don’t matter to me Theodore Rhodes. You haven’t in years...” I tell him honestly. He has been doing a great job destroying the company all on his own. He doesn’t need my help doing any of that. I trigggered the silent alarm under my table. “That’s a lie. I know you still love. I’ll marry you in a heartbeat. Just say the word and I’ll leave Cecelia...” he takes a seat in front of me. I bite my lip. I take a good look at Theodore. Have you ever taken a look at an ex and think to yourself what the f**k did I ever see in you? That’s exactly what’s going through my mind right now. I hate the idea of comparing this asshole to my husband, but just comparing the way Rook takes care of me to the way Theodore did when we were married. I feel like I’m being treated like the Queen of England. Which is ridiculous. Rook treats me like any man should treat their wife. When Rook and I first got married, I felt so unworthy of the loyalty and dedication he has given me. Now after therapy and a loving family I realized I deserved happiness just as much as the next women. I deserved to have a family, I deserved the love my in-laws shower me with. “I would never ever take you back, even if you were the last man on earth. Mr. Rhodes there is no way in hell I would ever date much less marry you.” I scoff at the mere idea of marrying this man again. This man is sleeping with his assistant even though he is married. And here he is trying to proposition me. He was never going to change. It took therapy to even trust my husband, I didn’t realize just how deeply Theodore Rhodes hurt me until I started doubting my husband. My mother-in-law suggested therapy to help me get over the hurt and pain I’ve been through. I’ve never felt more loved in my life. He stands and glares at me. He lunges forward to strike me but the guards are already in my office and they escort him out. Once again the man’s kicking and screaming like a little child that had their favorite toy taken from them. I get back to work on the documents on my desk. If I want to at least see my son and husband tonight, I need to finish all of this. “You know I don’t like you working so late, especially after what just happened...” Rook’s voice startles me. I look up and smile. I stand from my desk and walk over to husband, I stand on my toes and wrap my arms around his neck. “You know I love you with all my heart and I love how passionate you are about your work. But I don’t like you working this late. He could have hurt you Sof. Can’t you bring your work home with you?” he asks. I smile giving him a peck on his lips. “Okay... Only because I know you’re worried about me...” Rook finally smiles. He wraps his arms around my waist. “So what did the bastard want?” he asks. “To marry me again...” I tell him honestly. Rook and I made a promise when we first got married. We’d always be honest with one another. It didn’t matter what it was. We’d always be honest. And I take that promise very seriously. He scoffs. “Really after everything?” Rook asks. I nod. “He believes I married you to make him jealous. After the last five years I didn’t care for revenge or him for that matter. If it wasn’t for Andrea. I probably would have given up on my revenge by now...” I tell him honestly. ========= Cecelia Rhodes POV “It’s been five years and those fuckers are still alive!” I shout throwing the file he just gave me at him. He rolls his eyes at me. “Of cause they’re still alive. Your daughter isn’t the sole heir to their fortune. If they die you’ll get nothing...” he reminds me. “And who’s fault is that?!” I roar. I was sick and tired of waiting. Being married to Theo. The man was a f*****g nightmare to be married to. He has a wondering eye. In the last five years not once has the bastard been faithful. It was his job to get them to put the entire Rhodes family fortune in my daughter’s name. But he couldn’t even convince them to give everything to their grandchild. How the hell was I going to get Theo to do it? He rolls his eyes. “Theo ran into Sofia. You’re running out of time. If he divorces you you’ll get nothing and so will your daughter...” he tries to remind me. “Do I need to remind you that she’s your daughter as well?” I ask him. He rolls his eyes. “She’s worthless. It would have been better if she was a boy...” he’s been saying the same thing for the last five years as soon as we found out the gender. “We could try for a boy...” I suggest. He thinks it over. “And if it’s another girl?” he asks. “We can always keep trying until we get a boy. Or try IVF.” I suggest. He mulls it over. “I’ll think about it. Get out of here, before they realize you’re not home...” he tells me. I nod walking out of his apartment.
