New Friends

She surprisingly slept very well that night, but she did keep the door locked, although she didn’t know how much good that would do. If they really wanted to get in there, she didn’t think something as simple as a locked door would stop them. But at least it would give her a warning that they were there. She fell asleep thinking about all of things she had learned in the past couple days. She now knew that there were werewolves for real. She also knew that she didn’t know as much about the world as she thought she did and decided she should never take anything for granted again. Once she got up in the morning she showered and put on some of the clothes that she had been given the day before. She wasn’t sure what she should do after that. Should she stay in the room? She didn’t know if she dared go out on her own without Chase. She wasn’t sure how safe that would be. But she decided to give it a try. She closed the bedroom door behind her and saw a girl down the hall from her who was walking towards her. She had a warm smile and told Tahlia that she would walk to breakfast with her if she wanted. Tahlia was glad for that because she felt somewhat out of place thinking about all the eyes that had been on her the day before.  She didn’t want to be alone in case that happened again. She had never asked Chase where his room was, so she didn’t even know where to find him. The girl who had told her that her name was Ella walked with her as she told her she would. When they came into the dinning room to her surprise no one stared at her like they had the day before. Instead some told her good morning and introduced themselves. One of the women came and told her to grab a plate and make herself at home. She explained that Chase something he had to do that morning but should be along soon. Tahlia couldn’t help but wonder what it was that Chase had to do. She found herself wondering about him quite a lot. She had so many questions but didn’t want to be to forward and ask. She thought it would be better to just learn as she went.                 Ella offered for her to hang out with her for a while until Chase came back and she agreed. After all what else was she going to do. Besides she actually liked Ella. She was really nice, and she was funny. They had walked around the compound and Ella showed her around. She also told her about some of the people there. She said that Chase was her boyfriend’s brother. Ella took her to show her were the laundry room was and where she could find anything that she may need for toiletries. Tahlia appreciated that she was so thoughtful. Just after lunch Chase came back and found them outside. He thanked Ella for keeping Tahlia company. Tahlia wondered if he had asked her to. Ella told her that she would see her later before she went on her way. Chase spent the rest of the day with her as he had the day before. She couldn’t help but wonder if he should be resting given all that he had been through. She decided she would ask because she didn’t want him to feel like he couldn’t rest because she was there. He explained that he was fine and that he heals fast. He said once he was stitched up an given some blood, he was fine. He said that they (meaning wolves) heal quickly. She was glad for that. She hated to think of anything bad happening to Chase. She felt a connection to him.                 As the days went on, she lost track of time. She had gotten to know the members of the pack very well.  She felt good there and it felt like a family, and surprisingly she felt like she was part of that family. She still couldn’t help but wonder about her life and the course of it. She truly hated to leave, and, hated the idea of not seeing Chase daily as she had gotten very close to him. She thought that there may be something between them. She had also become good friends with a few of the girls there, especially Ella. Chase and Tahlia hung out with Ella and her boyfriend (Chase’s cousin) Daniel. They were all so different than she had expected them to be. She had even learned that the man who had threatened her when Chase has first been hurt was just being protective of the pack and that he did not have any ill will against her personally. In fact, he had been nice to her since being there. Ella had explained that as wolves they have some primal instincts that they tend to follow instinctively, once of those is to protect and respect the alpha, and the pack. She learned about the hierarchy of the pack as well. She had also found out that they respect each other on a profound level, which extends to their mates. The term “mate” still seemed odd to her, but they spoke of it like it was the most natural thing. They had shared many things about themselves and the pack, and the ways of the pack. Tahlia had also shared things about herself and her past with them in return. She had told them how she had come there to become something because she didn’t want to always be nothing.
