Kayla's POV The air inside the bakery felt freezing. Lucien’s large, warm hand stayed over my bump, his dark shadow towering over me like a wall I couldn't escape. "Get your hands off her!" Trisha shouted, stepping forward with a heavy wooden rolling pin in her fist. "I don't care who you think you are, mister, but you don't touch a woman like that in my shop!" Lucien didn't even flinch. He slowly turned his head, his cold, eyes landing on Trisha with a look of complete and deadly calm. "Touch me with that piece of wood, old woman," Lucien said, his deep voice full of quiet power, "and I will buy this entire street by noon, tear down your bakery by sunset, and make sure you never sell a loaf of bread in this state again."
