coincidence

As they stepped out of the café, the cool evening air brushed against them. Hannah suddenly remembered a question that had been nagging at her. "So, what are you doing here in Switzerland, anyway?" she asked, glancing at Edward. He chuckled. "I go to college here. And you?" Hannah's eyes widened. "Oh, me too! I go to the University of Lucerne. What about you?" Edward stopped in his tracks, a look of astonishment crossing his face. "Unbelievable! I go to the same one." Hannah stared at him, her mouth slightly open. "No way! How have I never noticed you there?" He laughed, running a hand through his hair. "I guess I’ve been flying under the radar." Hannah shook her head in disbelief, a grin forming on her face. "This is insane. Of all places to run into you again, it turns out we’ve been walking the same halls this whole time!" Edward smiled, his brown eyes sparkling in the fading sunlight. "Fate’s been working overtime, huh?" Hannah laughed. "Yeah, no kidding. Well, you’re officially out of excuses now. We’re going to be bumping into each other a lot more often." "Guess so," Edward said, his smile widening. "I’m looking forward to it." As they continued walking, the coincidence of their paths crossing again left them both with a renewed sense of connection. As they strolled down the quiet street, the glow of the streetlights casting warm pools of light, Hannah's phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out to see Emily’s name flashing on the screen. "Uh-oh," Hannah muttered to herself before answering. "Hi, Em!" "Where are you?" Emily’s voice came through, a mix of curiosity and impatience. "I’ve been waiting for you in the library!" Hannah smacked her forehead lightly. "Oh no, I completely forgot! I’m so sorry. I’m coming now!" "Okay, but hurry," Emily said before hanging up. Edward glanced at her with a curious smile. "What’s going on?" Hannah slipped her phone back into her pocket. "I promised my friend Emily I’d meet her in the library to study for our exams. I can’t believe I forgot." Edward nodded. "Sounds important. Want me to walk you there?" Hannah hesitated for a moment before shaking her head. "Thanks, but it’s not far. I don’t want to keep her waiting any longer." "Fair enough," Edward said with a grin. "Go save your friend from boredom. But we’ll catch up again soon, right?" "Of course," Hannah said with a smile. "Thanks for today. It was good seeing you again." "You too, Hannah," Edward replied. "Good luck with your studying." With that, they parted ways, Edward heading in one direction while Hannah made her way to the library, her mind still buzzing from their conversation.
