“Is she dead?” An unfamiliar male voice said over the phone.
Lorenzo’s eyes cut toward Danielle. He didn’t need to ask who the caller was referring to. He just wasn’t sure yet if he was having the unfortunate pleasure of speaking to Chip Marvick, Danielle’s brother, or Sawyer, aka the snake, Danielle’s ditched groom.
He could feel all the eyes in the room watching him, wondering who he was talking to and what was going on. Lorenzo could have easily put the call on speaker, but he wanted to be sure of what he was dealing with before he let it become open season.
“How does that concern you?” he asked the caller.
