Chapter 24
Alistair and Zev backed away as a frantic bearded man and a woman clad in black denim and leather burst through the other door, into the gallery. Alistair thought he heard the man say her name in the chaos after he slammed the door shut behind them. They were both panting and tense.
“What are you doing here?” the bearded guy asked Alistair, out of breath.
“Who are you?” Alistair asked back.
“We were looking for her sister. She was supposed to be in the clinic, but—”
“What clinic?”
“What do you mean what clinic?”
“What do you mean what do I mean? What the hell is going on?” Alistair finally snapped.
“You. Quiet one.” The leather-clad woman pointed at Zev. “Where did you come in?”
Zev pointed behind them. “There. Through the library.”
