CHAPTER 8

1056 Words
Saturday, In the Lancer Villa— “ Tracy baby ! why don’t you listen to me ?” Roselin ran after Tracy who rushed to the kitchen. Tracy was wearing a white apron and chef cap, held a recipe book, basically borrowed from Juliana. She hurried inside the kitchen where pots and pans were arranged on the oven. Two chefs and 3 helpers stood in a line at one end. “ Mom ! you know that I have invited Luna today and I want to cook for him something so good, that he will never like to eat food, made my anyone else ever in his life. And this book has everything mentioned in details. So relax! I have got this. This can’t be so difficult!” Tracy said and turned sharply around and started picking up the ingredients with the help of all types of measuring spoons and even weighed the chicken and vegetables to be precise and perfect. The chefs were given tasks to only do the cutting and chopping. Tracy was making cookies to go with tea and Spicy chicken sausage, Crispy corns and Fish balls for snacks. Also there was prawn and mushroom wraps which she would make if she had time. The cooks and helpers did what they were told to. They saw how the adjustment of the flame was not correct, how the consistency of the sauce was lighter than required, how the time taken for frying and grilling was not correct as per the texture of the Chicken, how the way the food was stirred was breaking the ingredients and making it look like lumps. These were intricate details needed to be taken care of, while cooking, but a recipe book and youtube videos can’t teach you. These learnings come with practice and experience. But they dared not utter a word for they didn’t want to face Tracy’s rage. They saw how the kitchen was a mess and so was Tracy. There were spices and flours all over her, as she was cooking food in a way, as if it was no big or even important deal. She had an arrogant and careless facial expression, as if trying to say, is this what the chefs do and take so much credit for! Even a child can do it!  Soon it was 5 o’clock and she remembered that she needs at least an hour to get ready. So she puts off the ovens and takes out the cookies and doesn’t even check them. She asks the chefs to garnish and plate the already ready dishes. Suddenly she thought that the wraps have not been made yet but then she preferred not to waste further time in making wraps as most of the important ingredients like prawn, babycorn and chicken were mostly exhausted except for some small residual quantity. Thinking this she removed her cap and apron and walked proudly out of the kitchen. Roselin first thought that Tracy will definitely give up in between and was worried, but she was relieved once Tracy came out and gave her a triumphant smile. “ Everything is done. Only the tea, I think that Juli can manage.” Saying this Tracy went to get ready. Juliana just returned after her classes. She was in her final years. She needed to leave again in an hour and a half, for the office. There was so much to handle and missing out even a small detail would bring disgrace. She was feeling hungry and she went directly to the kitchen. There were a lot of food being garnished and plated. The housekeeper was cleaning what looks like a messy kitchen. She was about to pick up a sausage when Roselin interfered, “ those are specially cooked for Mr. Luna, by Tracy herself.” Juliana looked at her raising an eyebrow and didn’t touch it. She found some tortillas and some residues of raw vegetables, prawns and chicken, so she started working on them and quickly made a few wraps. They won’t taste her best but will do as a quick supper before she leaves. After she was done, she thought about taking a shower and changing her clothes before eating, and hence she left the kitchen and went to her room. It was already 5.45 pm and she has to leave by 6.30 pm maximum. She took a quick shower and changed into a black slim fit skirt, a little above the knee and a white Cotton shirt. She made a pony tail and applied a lip gloss. She took the folder from the table and went down stairs. She was about to get in the kitchen when Roselin came and requested her to make tea for their shortly arriving guest. Juliana went inside the kitchen and made a big pot of tea, she had also added some ginger and cardamom to give it a special flavour.  Tracy’s POV— I was excited to meet Mr. Luna again and wanted to see the delight on his face first hand, after he tasted my cooking. I blushed happily and went into the warm shower. I cleaned myself with scrubs and shower gel and washed my hair with shampoo. He will be arriving any moment, so I have to hurry. I quickly dried myself and my hair with the soft towels. I wore a short, red, body hugging dress. It was shoulder less and was high above my knees displaying my perfectly pedicured legs and thighs. I applied red nail polish. I softened my smooth skin more with lotions and gels. I applied a black mascara and a deep red lipstick. I also put some red blusher to highlight my cheeks. I dried my hair with a blower and left my waves loose. I chose a red high heel and looked myself in the mirror. I looked gorgeous and was sure will woo the Rich guy who will drop down any moment. I hurried down the stairs and went to the kitchen where I sniffed the aroma of freshly brewing tea. Juliana surely makes some good tea, I thought, but the food will cover the taste of the tea. I saw the food were plated and arranged nicely. I thought I will taste them once since I rushed to get dressed and didn’t taste any. I was about to pick up one cookie when the bell rang and I put it back on the plate and rushed outside.
