'Hey sis,' my brother, Jared barged into my office just after Melinda left. 'Who was that?' He asked looking at the blonde now entering the elevator.
'Melinda' I answered 'Melinda Brown.' remembering how she introduced herself.
'Oh, so, Ms. No bullshit was here.' He said thoughtfully.
'Is that what they are calling her now adays.' I asked and I would not be amazed if that's the case, all kinds of rumors run about the Brown family.
'Why was she here?' He fired his own question ignoring mine.
'Why so curious, bhuh?'I mocked him. 'The real question is why are you hear?'
'Ya, about that, I got the internship at the Browns law firm and Melinda is also an intern there with her no bullshit alttitude. They don't call her that though, I do. Anyway I should know more about my fellow colleagues right, sissy.' He explained answering all my questions on the way.
'I'm really happy for you, Jared. Good Luck on the internship!' I gave him a warm hug, ignoring the other parts of his rant cause I just don't have time. 'Now go, go, go... I have work to do.' He seemed confused cause I never chase him out like this but just obeyed, maybe he had other things to do himself.
I sat at my table when Jared left going through the reports Prissilla made, a 60 year old ex-match maker and my ex- neigbour since I don't live next to her anymore, I hired her to lead the practice sessions between actors and customers for an event they need to pretend on, and review sessions where customers suggest anything the actors should improve or keep up with. As far as what I'm seeing on my screen everything is going smoothly.
Though I was talking about having a lot of work just a minute ago I really don't, It's just some stuff that I had to do to build walls rather than lines to make sure there is no thing as blurred lines between customer and actor, that's the main work we do here, but other than that there will be some other hard work I will be doing today which mainly consists of going to Mason's house. I stood from my chair taking the address from my table. Lets get this over with, I thought as I went outside and called a cab.
When the cab stop at the place of the address I've given him. I look out the window, we were in front of an ordinary building, not where you expect to find Mason.
I went out anyway and ring the bell, after one more ringing, a voice answered. 'Who is it?'
'It's from the Fakeit. Agency' I answered shortly hoping he was already expecting me.
A bit later the front door opens and I went up the stairs to his apartment where he is waiting at his door, I catch my breath as I catch his site, all the memmories flooded back.
Why did I agree to do this, Why am I much naive to think this will be easy, should I try running, but instead I try taking deep breathes without being noticed.
When I was finally in front of him I noticed the confused look he held, so I realized he was expecting someone but definitely it was not me, atleast he recognize me, but I don't even know if that's a good or a bad thing, but really I don't care, do I? No.
Just keep this professional.
'Hello, I am Katherine Norman, from fakeit. Agency.' I extend my hand to shake his trying to act decent. 'Soon to be your fake girlfriend after we sign the contract.' I continued shaking his hand lightly gesturing to the briefcase in my other hand containing the contract.
The soft caress of his hand with mine was a reminder of how his touch affects me, I find the bitter memory unnerving but I wouldn't c***k, I keep the forced smile on my face as he lead me inside.
'So, Katherine huh' may be he doesn't remember me after all, makes sense cause why would he remember a bet he once won.
Shutting the door closed. 'How the f**k did you end up doing this.' He asked all of a sudden like I'm committing a sin.
Instead of answering him 'So you remember me.' I announced my thought out loud.
'Ofcourse, I remember the nerd I went to highschool with.' He joked with a pure bliss like he don't remember anything he did to me.
I know what I need, I just have to change the subject so that I won't start crying and biting him unsucessfully for what he did seven whole years ago. That would just be pathetic.
'If we cleared that up, can we go down to bussiness I'm here so we can go through the contract and sign on things only we both approve off.' I stated the contact for the second time in five minutes.
'Ya, but first, do you want a coffee?' He asked heading to the kitchen.
'Yes, please, no sugar.' I answered, sitting on the cozy couch still trying to keep it professional.
'I see, trying to cut sugar, huh afraid you will turn back into katy bear, thunder thighs.' He mocked, though I know he is not a bully now and back then and just joking and it's because of the rage and anger of his betrayal that I lost all that pound but I still felt a little offended.
Seeing the frown on my face 'Hey, it was just a joke.' He tried to chill me.
But the mock was long forgotten as he took a sit by my side with two mugs in hand and I took a notice. I hadn't been focused on him trying to contain myself and now that I have noticed I couldn't help noticing some more. He is nothing like he used to be. He was just a boy back then and now he is full out a man, his muscles are bigger and tighter, the bones across his jaw are more defined. He was dressed in loose black shirt that still show off some muscles and long shorts. He looks delicious to say the least but lets just get that idea out of my head.
I forced my gaze away from him but I know I was too late, his raised eyebrow and smug smirk says I was caught checking him out.
I ignored him and opening my briefcase revealing my laptop and paper containing the words of the contract.
'Shall we begin.' I asked.
