“So ... why don’t you tell me about Tabby’s father, what happened to burn you this badly ?” I look at Maisie.
We are sitting in a small cozy bar in the local town, I have a glass of whiskey in my hand and Maisie is munching at a plate of nachos with extra cheese ... her glass empty, the rum already gone.
She shakes her head, stuffing four nachos in her mouth at the same time. “You don't want to hear ... it’s not a funny story”.
“Try me darling, it will help talking about it”. I reach out to gently touch her hand, then I look at the bartender. “Can the lady have another drink please”.
The bartender comes over, placing a full glass and swiping away the empty one, Maisie stuffs her mouth with more nachos.
