CHAPTER 2-AFTERWARDS

Cali's POV

As usual I woke up late, I can't remember what I dreamt about last night, but I have a feeling its important. I checked my brand-new iPhone 8 which I got on my last birthday to see if I had any new messages. As expected, my only message was from my only best friend and roommate Amber saying what a lazy ass I am for not waking up early. As I thought back for a while, I realized how close I had come to finally achieving my dreams. I'll be graduating Princeton in two days with a degree in arts. My stuck up parents wanted me to offer business so that I can take charge of their vast business holdings worldwide but I wanted to do something I loved which caused a rift between my parents and I till now. Luckily for me despite their disapproval of anything I did, they always gave me an allowance and paid for the apartment which I shared with Amber. I met Amber during orientation in college and we hit off since her personality was like mine. Unfortunately, that was all we had in common, she comes from a middle-class family which is an abomination for my parents who were disappointed in the fact that I associated myself with someone beneath my class. As a result, I rarely saw my family since they did not approve of almost all the choices I make. Despite all these am pretty sure they will make it to my graduation even if it is to prove a point. I hope they bring my siblings along because it's been a while since I've seen them excluding the many calls and video chats. After I left my parents limited the time, I got to see my brother and sister to prevent them from getting infected with my rebellious streak. But unknown to them they were also bidding the time when they would leave home. My parents especially my dad are perfectionists which made living with them a headache. To them life was all about appearances, the right choice of words to prevent offending anyone and unparalleled obedience to people with money. When you grow up with these kinds of principles, imagine your general outlook towards life. It's a wonder I turned out this way. I like to think I owe it all to Finn since he showed me there was more to life than I was taught.........Mmm and on the matter of been taught, I need to get of my a** before Amber comes to teach me another lesson for staying in bed late. If I can recall correctly, the last time she taught me a lesson was just yesterday when she introduced cold water to me in bed for waking up late. Honestly Amber and I make the oddest pair of friends you can find. She has amber waist length hair, blue eyes and is a cute 5'6. With my midnight black hair and green eyes and being a 5'10, you can imagine the difference just in appearance. She's fierce when she's protecting those, she loves even though her height makes her look like anything but fierce.  As I head down to the kitchen for a cup of coffee, I realized how lucky I am for her presence in my life.........She also managed to get me a temporary job opportunity in one of the biggest business conglomerates in the world. How she managed such a feat is beyond me because I just mentioned to her that I did not want to work in Roman holdings ( my family business) then poof, the next day she got me a job.

The company in which I'll be working in a few days is Valiente group of companies. They are into hotel, estate development, interior designing, construction, finance and many more. There are many rumors' about the owner and CEO of this company since he is rarely seen in public and there are no pictures of him anywhere even online. He seems to value his privacy a lot. Despite all this rumors', there is no doubt Valiente Co is one of the best companies in the world which makes the owner a multi millionaire. So, you can imagine my surprise when I got a message from the company about working there temporarily in which case it may be permanent if they deem my results satisfactory courtesy of my best friend. I wonder how she did it. With these thoughts in mind, I started preparing for my first tour of the Company. From the schedule they sent me;

Today is my tour of the company. Tomorrow is my orientation and immediately after my graduation, I start working there officially. Am so excited I could scream. I hope I can get a glimpse of the CEO because according to gossips, he is a total hottie.

Ruxin Roman's POV

As I went through the papers the financial department of Roman holdings sent me, I came to the glaring reality that we are almost bankrupt. I wonder how am going to tell my wife. Her inheritance is also a major part of the company. And the kids, they are all used to living a life of luxury except Caliana due to her hot-headed attitude. The company shares have always belonged to only family members but at this point it wouldn't hurt to sell some of them. The income of the sales and the contribution of the shareholders may just be enough to bring the company back to its former glory. There are also the children's trust funds which is sizable. For now, I'll just keep it to myself.
