After David dropped me off at Nina’s house, I was surprised to find Nina’s mother waiting for me.
“Did Nina call you?” I asked her when I came in the door.
“Yeah, it’s my half day, so she knew I would be here or on my way home. How are you feeling?” She asked me.
I shrugged my shoulders. I really didn’t want to talk.
“Come on, let’s get some soup into you.” She said to me as she put her arm around me.
We walked into the kitchen and Nina’s mom indicated for me to sit at the counter. She went over to her pantry and opened it up.
“So you have to settle for canned soup. It takes too long to make it homemade.” She said as she pulled a can out.
“It’s fine.” I sighed.
