I was in my office going through paperwork when my phone rang. It was one of my business contacts calling about a deal we had been working on for weeks. I answered it and immediately regretted it because the guy on the other end started complaining about something that wasn't even my fault.
"Look I understand you're frustrated" I said trying to keep my voice calm "but the delay wasn't on our end. Your supplier was the one who missed the deadline."
"That's not what I heard" the guy said. "I heard your pack couldn't get the shipment together in time and now my clients are angry."
"Your information is wrong. We had everything ready three days early, it was your supplier who dropped the ball."
"Are you calling me a liar?"
