She had barely taken a few steps when her legs cramped painfully beneath her. She bit her lip, suppressing a whimper. Tristan had been ruthless even in bed. He did not stop until he had satiated his desire for her body. The s*x goes on for hours until he finally left her alone. One thing bothered Tristan, though. It was that she never had an orgasm.
Kataleya bit her inner cheeks and kept walking. She didn’t stop. She ignored the pain, pulled on her maid dress and left the room.
In the kitchen, Madam Ruby waited for her. Her hands were clasped together, and her eyebrows were tightly knit.
Her eyes flicker to the stairs to see the little lady hurrying down the stairs. Her brows furrowed, observing how the girl limped her way into the kitchen.
“Hurry up!” she pressed her lips in disapproval.
Kataleya panted as she mustered every ounce of what little strength she had left to get moving.
“I’m here.” She mumbled.
Madam Ruby was crazy strict about the schedule of things. She wanted things to be done at a specific time. Such as when she had to do laundry, scrub dishes, and cook in the kitchen. Kataleya often wondered if she had some type of OCD, or simply a control freak.
“What took you so long?” Madam Ruby gritted, glaring daggers into Kataleya’s face.
Despite her title as luna in this pack, she was not respected by its members. Her entitlement as luna meant nothing as long as the Alpha treats her below her rank.
Kataleya lowered her head, contemplating for a good answer. What did she want her to say? Everyone saw it. Alpha Tritan had barged into the pack house after his morning runs and went directly to her. He swept her off her feet and took her to his room.
“Tut, tut. I’m sure Alpha Tritan only wanted to make good use of his whore.” She sneered, shaking her head. She seemed worried, Kataleya noticed.
“My daughter deserves to be luna, not a pathetic mutt like you without a wolf.” She hissed, and it dawned on her.
But these words meant nothing to Kataleya.
In the first place, she never wanted to be luna. She never asked for it.
If becoming one was such a dream, why was she living a nightmare?
Kataleya excused herself to scrub the dishes. Madam Ruby watched her every move, holding her long cane in hand. Kataleya glanced sideways, eyeing her cane while her heart drummed nervously in her chest.
“Hurry up, don’t you know how important this is to my daughter and the Alpha’s heir?” Madame Ruby clicked her tongue, twisting her cane which had Kataleya turning back to her task.
Goddess, she had just taken a good whipping from her the other day. The wounds she received from the previous one was still raw.
“The Lycan King will make his entrance. I expect this place spotless when I return.” With that, Madame Ruby’s footsteps echoed across the walls until they dissipated in the air.
Finally, Kataleya could breathe.
The omegas should be here by now.
Some time later, voices began to fill the kitchen room as the omegas made their way inside.
Great. Kataleya looked over the hundreds other dishes that needed scrubbing. It would be easier if another pair of hands or two would help.
She turned to see the omegas happily talking amongst themselves.
“Did you hear him? He said the Lycan King is coming. Tonight!”
“Oh, I want to see him.”
“Me too!”
“Did he say if he had a mate?”
“I don’t think so. He hasn’t found his mate yet,”
“You know what that means?”
“It means I might be the one he’s looking for!” the girls squealed.
“What do you think I should wear?”
“The question is, what should I wear? You all know I have a better chance at being his fated mate, right?” someone snorted.
They all fell silent at Cassandra’s voice. Cassandra is one of the omegas, but she acts superior to others. I always paid her no attention. I didn’t think she deserved it.
That aside, it seemed they were in a rush to prepare themselves for the huge party tonight.
“Can someone help me with the dishes?” Kataleya asked. Her smooth, silky voice echoed in the room which had them all look at her.
“Silly Luna,” Cassandra laughed, “Oh, I shouldn’t even call you that. You’re nothing.”
Kataleya sighed. Why did she even bother?
The omegas hated her as much as everyone in this pack.
“You are no luna,” she snickered, stepping beside her. She focused her mind on the task.
“Hell, you aren’t even wife material. Diane told us,” Kataleya stiffened as she leaned in, “Alpha Tritan f***s you like a whore.”
Kataleya’s fingers tightened on the plate. Her eyes forward, unblinking.
“I bet he lets his guards f**k you afterward.” She cackled.
‘Kill her.’ Her wolf awakened, before an insane amount of bloodlust surged through her veins.
Kataleya pushed her down.
‘Be quiet.’ She scolded her wolf, who immediately receded back into hiding.
Instead of defending herself, Kataleya moved back to scrubbing dishes. Talking to her was simply a waste of her time.
“Hmph, I knew it. You are weak.” She hissed.
Still, Kataleya’s lips were tightly sealed. She could hear her heels clack against the floor as she walked.
“Let’s go. Since the luna thinks she is better than us, she can finish it all herself while we prepare.” Cassandra’s snicker was followed by the omegas’ as they tossed their aprons everywhere and left her to sort it all.
Kataleya sighed. She was no stranger to loneliness. Or doing things by herself.
So, she resumed the day and went back to her chores. She did not forget to strip the bedsheets in the Alpha’s room. They were her blood. It happened so often she passed it as a chore.
Time drifted by, and she was done by the time Madame Ruby came back to check for any errors she may have done. With her eagle eyes that were keen on spotting even a tiny speck of dust left out, she knew she was in for the beating.
