Chapter 005: Saved?

"Help! " a woman's voice screamed from inside the corner store, although only Eli and Hyun-Ki could understand what she had said, as she had said it in English. Eli immediately ran towards a bush that was nearby the store, trying to see what was going on inside. Just as Mi-Ok was about to follow him, Hyun-Ki grabbed her arm. "Wait here." he said, not giving her a chance to respond before he followed Eli.                  "What's your plan?" Hyun-Ki said as he reached where Eli was watching from. Eli's only response was a flick of his wrist, clearly teling Hyun-Ki to either stay silent or go wait with Mi-Ok. After what seemed like ages, Eli finally said in a voice that was barely loud enough to be heard, "Wait here. When I give the signal, I need you to help me distract the monsters while the girl inside of the store runs over to where Mi-Ok will be standing. I assume you know the monsters' weakness?" "Yes, of course." Hyun-Ki responded in an equally hushed voice. Then, Eli ran towards an unguarded back-door to the store. He could only hope that it wasn't locked. And, to his relief, it wasn't. He entered the store, trying to stay as low to the ground as possible, as to avoid being spotted. When he reached the woman, he covered her mouth so that she wouldn't scream and alert the monsters of his presence. "I'm here to help you, but I need you to trust me. There's a woman with black hair waiting a little ways away outside. Her name is Mi-Ok, and I need you to run over to where she is once I get you out of here. The man who is out there is going to help me distract the monsters while you do that, okay?" She nodded. "Alright. Follow me."                  It had been almost ten minutes since Eli had entered the store, and Mi-Ok was growing more worried by the second. 'What if something happened to him?' she froze at the thought. Just then, she saw the outline of a person, running towards her, and another person followed, though that one was simply walking slowly, calmly, towards the monsters. She looked towards where Hyun-Ki had been, but he was no longer there. Now, he was following the second person, walking towards the monsters. A minute later, the first person reached her. As her vision shifted, she realized that it was a woman who had been walking towards her. A woman whom she did not recognize. The woman said something, but Mi-Ok couldn't understand what she was saying. She had an accent, similar to Eli's, so Mi-Ok figured that they might be from the same place. After a moment, Mi-Ok looked up and saw Eli and Hyun-Ki walking towards them and, as she looked behind them, she saw that the monsters were gone.                 As Eli and Hyun-Ki reached Mi-Ok and the girl, whose name was still unknown to them, as it had seemed irrelevant when they were saving her, she grabbed onto Eli's arm and fell (rather overdramatically, if you ask me). "Does this girl hate me? I was introduced myself and was being polite, but she ignored me!" the girl wailed. Eli simply rolled his eyes and said, "Mi-Ok doesn't speak English. Now, get off of me." He shook his arm, making the girl let go of him. 'I have a feeling I'm gonna regret helping this girl...' he thought. "Mi-Ok, are you alright?" Eli asked, ignoring the confused look that the girl was giving him. "I'm fine. Are you two... from the same place?" she asked. "I'd assume so." "Where are you from, anyway?" she asked. "I'm from America. Phoenix, Arizona, to be exact." he told her. "I see..." she replied. "Now then, what's your name?" Eli asked in English, looking towards the woman. He still sounded like he was annoyed with her, but she clearly couldn't tell. "My name is Olivia." she replied, smiling. "Alright then, Olivia. I'm Elijah, this is Mi-Ok, and this is Hyun-Ki. We're all working together to get out of here." Eli told her. "Oh, then you three didn't know each other before you were brought here?" Olivia responded. "Those to knew each other, but I just met them not long ago." he replied. "Really? You all seem like such good friends though." Eli just ignored her comment and said, in Korean, "Hyun-Ki, how fluent are you in English?" "I'm pretty fluent, but there are a few things that I don't understand, why?" he answered. "Could you translate what I say for Mi-Ok whenever necessary? Just let me know if there's anything that you don't understand." "O-oh, alright." Hyun-Ki agreed. "Alright then. We should get out of here as soon as possible, since the monsters could return any time, and I'd rather we not be standing around when they do." he said while Hyun-Ki translated for Mi-Ok.                 It had started to get dark, and there were less of the monsters around. There was one building that Mi-Ok recognized as the apartment building where her brother lived. "Eli, do you think we should stay in that building for the night? I know the building's layout pretty well, since my brother lives there." Mi-Ok suggested. "That's a good idea. Since you know the building well, you should take the lead for now." Eli replied, stopping to allow Mi-Ok to take the lead.                 Now they were inside the building, about to round the corner onto fifth floor. Eli had decided to take the lead once they had gotten up the stairs in case they ran into any of the monsters. 'There shouldn't be any of them this high up in the building, right?' He could only hope that there weren't, they were five stories high, and the only way up was a thin staircase, but, if there were, they would have to work together to get rid of it. As soon as Eli rounded the corner, he froze, staring at what he saw in front of him in bewilderment. "What's wro-"
