Chapter 11
Feyres POV
I waited for his reaction, expecting the absolute worse but nothing. Absolutely nothing. He didn't even move. I raised my hand and waved it in front of his face since Sierra gave me back control after her little revelation. No reaction or movement. From this I decided to make my way to the balcony and sat on the sofa.
"Mother why did you do this?" I looked to the sky, almost as if I was waiting for an answer. "There's only so much that we can take. Sierra has protected me for years, but that isn't what I wanted. I wanted a mother to be there for me, in her real form not a voice in my head."
I curled up on the sofa more and grabbed the blanket, the softness I imagined as my mothers touch. Her arms surrounding me, comforting me. Softly stroking my hair as I drift off into a dream state. Imagining her not leaving me like she did, that she stayed and kept me safe.
I hadn't realised I'd drifted off until I opened my eyes to the night sky. Hearing the owls in the distance I didn't move, keeping the blanket around me I looked to the moon. Still waiting for a response from my mother, to say that she was with me.
I hadn't noticed that Kaden was on the floor until I moved to put my feet down and came in contact with his shoulder. He was sitting on the floor with his head against the sofa, I didn't want to wake him so I quickly moved my feet. Staring at his sleeping form he looked peaceful, no frown lines or worry shown on his body. Moving the blanket off me I slid down to his side, I reached for the curls that had moved over his face, they were like silk to my fingers. I brought his body into mine and got his head to rest on my lap, I pulled the blanket over him as he was stilly only wearing shorts and must have been cold.
He curled slightly into my body as the blanket covered him, his warmth started to seep into my body as I continued to play with his hair. A lullaby I heard as a child made its way into my head, I don't remember where I had heard it but it was soothing, like a lost piece of my childhood. Not even realising but I started to hum the melody, absentmindedly closing my eyes and resting my hands over Kadens, holding him closer to my body.
I hear you my child. I promise you're not alone.
A slight smile graced my lips at her words, hearing them for the first time in years brought me comfort. The night seemed brighter as she spoke to me, and nothing had felt more like home. The lullaby continues as Kaden slowly starts to open his eyes, I didn't notice him staring at me until I looked down and met the beautiful green.
"Where did you hear that from love?"
His question stopped my singing as I tried to remember. "I'm not sure. It's something I remember from when I was young, but I can't place where I heard it."
With my answer, Kaden moved to a crouch. He placed his arms under my knees and around my back before lifting me up, carrying me over to the bed and placing me on his side. I curled into the blankets and the pillows as he settled on the bed, placing his arms around me and pulling me into his chest.
"I'm sorry I spaced out. After yours and Sierra's explanation of everything I just needed to process. I mean its not everyday your mate is the child of the Moon Goddess."A light chuckle came from his lips, and I felt the vibrations from his chest.
"I understand. You're the first person who has actually heard it from me, or rather Sierra. But I wouldn't have it any other way."
Snuggling closer into his chest, I never wanted to leave. Everything seemed to be moving forward for us, and through that there was only one thing I truly wanted. For my mother to meet him.
