Chapter 4
Feyre's POV
As soon as I said those words he froze, not facing me and barely breathing. I didn't think it would have that much of an effect on him. In reality I didn't remember him, it was his scent that had triggered the memory that I had been repressing for years.
Flashback
It was dawn, the meadow was covered by the early morning sun making the flowers look almost ethereal. 6 year old Feyre was being a nuisance to her mum so had been asked to go and burn off some of her energy, this resulted in her running all night through the woods until she came across the meadow.
Basking in the sun, Feyre was more content than anything, that was until her silence was disturbed by the rustling of the grass surrounding her. The next thing she knew, she was face to face with a wolf, a stunning midnight black wolf with the most beautiful green eyes she had ever seen. Instead of backing away, she simply stared at the wolf, this resulted in him sitting down and facing her.
Neither wished to move from each other, locked into their gazes as if nothing else existed in their world. That was until they heard a scream. Coming from the edge of the woods, Feyre recognised it and dashed towards the sound with the wolf hot on her heels. Nearing the edge of the woods her eyes immediately went to the blonde haired girl lying on the floor. not thinking about anything she ran to her side lifting her head into her lap, the young blonde girl had gashes running over her entire body and face, blood leaking from her stomach at too fast a rate for her wolf to heal her properly.
"Feyre you must leave."
"No, I can't leave you like this! Whatever happened I can help, I can fix you!" Shock was the only emotion evident on her once peaceful face.
"No! You can't, if you use them they will find you, they will know who you are." With a cough that racked her body bringing up blood, the young girl simply looked into Feyres eyes and made her promise. "If you ever use your powers make sure you are safe, that you are strong, and that you know what is coming after you. Feyre promise me you won't use them, not until the time is right."
"I promise Eve."
With that last promise she let go, Eve allowed the Moon Goddess to claim her body and soul, lifting her into the unknown. Feyre watched on as she saw her sisters body start to change, from a solid human into stardust being bought up to the sky.
Feyre hadn't realised but the wolf that had been following her had changed into a young man, the distraught in his eyes was evident as he had watched this exchange between the two sisters, but his attention was still to the woods waiting for the danger.
Feyre turned and faced the boy, wandering what he was still doing here when he didn't know her. A whistling sound shot past her head, burying into the shoulder of the boy was an arrow. Not caring what she had just promised Eve, Feyre removed the arrow from the boys shoulder and left her hand on the wound, a gentle surge of power and a sense of calm surrounded them as she closed her eyes. Feyre removed her hand and opened her eyes towards the young boy, with a last look she smiled and ran into the woods never looking back.
End of Flashback
His scent engulfed me as I was brought back from the painful memory, his strong arms surrounding my shoulders, a strong smell of rain and lavender. He pulled back looking into my eyes, his hand moved up to move my hair out of my face to then caress my cheek.
"Why did you run Feyre?"
Such hurt was in his eyes it almost felt like I ran away from him all those years ago, when in reality I was running away from a part of myself.
"You know I never got your name?"
"Kaden" It suited him perfectly.
As I looked into those beautiful green eyes I began to notice the changes in him since he was a boy. Aside from the obvious muscles that he had acquired (which I was not displeased with at all) his jaw was more defined, all of the softness from when he was boy had seemed to disappear replaced with sharp, strong features.
"You can shower here, if you want to borrow clothes help yourself to the closet, I'll get one of the she-wolves to bring in some clothes as well."
Kaden released his arms from around me and without meaning to a whimper escaped my throat. His eyes tracked to mine, they started to glow towards an emerald green meaning his wolf was coming to the surface. His hands found his way to my waist as he pulled me closer, Kadens eyes travelled to my lips as mine did the same for him. On instinct my hands wrapped around his neck and pulled him closer, as our lips brushed against each other a surge of heat went straight from my lips to my core, it was as though Kaden had the same reaction because he took a breath and then pounced.
He was dominating in the kiss, unrelenting, he licked my lips begging for entrance as I refused to open up, his hands went further south and grabbed my ass, pulling me closer and making me gasp. At the gasp his tongue entered my mouth and it was a whole other experience, soft moans were coming from me as his hands massaged me. Before it could go any further he pulled away from me, both of us were breathing deeply and I could feel my eyes changing, refusing to look up he kissed me on the cheek and backed out of the room.
I ran to the bathroom and locked the door. Taking deep breaths I looked up into the mirror and tried to calm down, my eyes were changing from green to blue to brown, if I didn't get this under control I wouldn't be able to hide. Deep breaths and closed eyes, thats how I did it, looking back up I saw them for the first time in 12 years. My true eyes. I had one emerald green eye, and the other was a mix of a sea blue and a beautiful amethyst purple. From what I knew I was the only one with these eyes, which was why I hid them, why I hid my entire reality.
Focussing back on myself I willed my eyes back to their green, as I looked at the dirty blonde hair framing my face. I kept the same hair I had just changed the colour, it was another dead give away about who I was.
Quickly showering, I felt refreshed as I wrapped a fluffy black towel around my body. I found a brush and brushed the knots out of my hair, as well as finding a new toothbrush to clean my teeth.
Walking out the bathroom I headed towards the closet, looking through his clothes his smell was everywhere. I wanted it around me so I stole one of his shirts. Hearing the door open I walked out with the shirt in my hand to come face to face with a beautiful she-wolf.
"Hi, I'm Clarissa. You must be Feyre."
Her hand outstretched I shook it and sensed no risk of danger coming from her. Immediately I noticed the clothes in her hand and she gave them to me. I walked back into the closet to change as she continued to talk outside in the bedroom.
"I never expected Kaden to find his mate, especially not whilst he was in this pack. I mean everyone thought he would have to go search for her, not that she would wind up practically on his doorstep..."
Clarissa kept talking as I looked at the clothes she had brought me, a simple pair of blue mum jeans, a black graphic tee, adidas shoes, white socks and black lacy underwear. I rolled my eyes as I slipped on the lace panties, bra and the jeans she got me. However I ignored the top she brought and put on the shirt that I grabbed out of Kadens closet.
"He's going to love that."
Clarissas face as I walked out the closet was amused looking me up and down. I grabbed the shoes and slipped them on, happy with my appearance for once. Giving Clarissa a nod I headed downstairs in search of Kaden and some food.
