Chapter 10

                                                                                High Alpha Val Makian

          I was going through paperwork when a loud growl came from outside startling me and making be stand suddenly knocking over not only the hand carved walnut chair but also the hand carved picture frame of my wife Camilla Makian. I quickly picked it up and checked for cracks in the wood or glass. Finding none I gazed at her. Her beautiful blue eyes that Zuko inherited, her long black hair being tossed with the wind, her smile so bright it rivaled the sun. This was taken the day before she was murdered.

          I could remember that day as if it were yesterday…

                                                                                            Third POV

          “Zuko you naughty boy get back here!” Camilla yelled with laughter as she chased the butt naked 5-year-old around the backyard with his clothes in hand. Zuko giggled “Cath me if oo an” he taunted attempting to say catch me if you can. She growled “Valy get over here and help me” Camilla whined giving Val her specialty puppy dog face. Val immediately complied unable to resist the puppy dog face. Quickly catching up to Zuko, Val swooped him into his arms and proceeded to growl and play bite Zuko’s neck. Zuko squealed with laughter crying out “stop it, stop it” and then Zuko squirmed out of Val’s arms and ran over to Camilla hiding behind her whilst glaring daggers at his laughing father. If looks could kill… Taking this opportunity Camilla snatched up her son and quickly put clothes on him.

          It was then that there were shouts of “High Alpha come quick” and “Intruders” Immediately Val burst into his huge brown wolf and took off in the direction of the shouts. Camilla quickly grabbed Zuko and went to head inside the large cabin decorated with hand carved wolves, but she was cut off by 3 large men “ZUKO RUN” she yelled loud enough, hopefully, for Val to hear. Zuko, understanding that those men were not friends instead stood in front of his mother and growled a warning at the 3 men. They laughed and back handed the brave boy hard enough to send him into a nearby trunk of a tree knocking him unconscious. One of the 3 men clicked his tongue “You really shouldn’t have done that sweetheart”

Val

          “RUN ZUKO” I heard my beloved shout. I spun around and ran as fast as four legs would take me. Mate’s in danger! My wolf, Beast cried out She’s in pain so much pain. Hearing that I ran faster than I thought I could. I got there but it was too little, too late. I saw three men standing over her bruised and cut up body and immediately tore them into smithereens. In doing so I recognized the three as the former High Alpha, High Beta, and High Delta from 8 years ago. The ones I deposed, replaced and granted mercy. It was only after I banished them when I found out they had Betrayed Kira, now the Queen of Vampires, and the Delta was her lover. I trotted over to my bedraggled mate whimpering and rubbing my snout on her cheek. My head jerked up as I realized that I had not seen Zuko. I quickly spotted him under Camilla’s favorite tree unconscious but ok other than a scratch crossing his cheek. Glancing over to the shrapnel of the Former Alpha, Beta, and Delta I found the Alpha’s ring that smelled of both my son’s as well as my wife’s blood. Silver, the ring was made of silver, which means my son’s cut would scar. It would appear to me that Zuko tried to defend Camilla instead of running.

 I shifted back and cradled the boy in my arms murmuring “i***t”

                                                                                      Present time

          After school I jogged over to Ezio and Mace rapid firing a punch to each of their arms. “oww” Ezio complained. Mace remained stoic like usual. “That was for pushing me towards my mate so I could get scolded like a little pup!” “You deserved it” Mace said with out remorse. “Sorry man but at least she talked to you,” Ezio replied remorse clearly in his voice. I heard a sharp whistle so I looked up to see my mate beckoning me over and gesturing to her car. I handed the keys to my motorcycle to Mace saying “Don’t scratch it.” “Don’t worry I have no intension to end up like Ezio” Mace replied referring to the time when Ezio took my last motorcycle for a joy ride and totaling it. When I found out I beat Ezio almost to a pulp. I remember the Doctor’s glare at me when I brought Ezio in. Ezio shuddered also remembering that day.

          Making my way towards Sia I wondered what she wanted. “Hey wolf,” she said instantly my body was taken over by Zero “Hey my avenging Angel of a mate” Zero replied. She smiled “You must be Zero”

“You know about me?”

“I asked Kieran after class if werewolf give their wolves a name. He used you and the Zuko who didn’t tell me we were mates as an example.”

          Yep she still hates me for that. “I see, well its nice to formerly meet you Angel” She giggled “Nice to meet you too, but I really have to talk to Zuko.” She replied. “He can hear you” Zero said, she gave him a seriously look. “But I will let him out” Zero continued. Now back in control I asked, “What do you need Mate?” “I need to meet this dad of yours that came up with an annoying plan. I already chewed out Kieran.” She chewed out KIERAN the Kieran that hates it when people he is not friends with calls him Kieran instead of Delta or Hrodwulf… Wait has she been calling him Kieran this whole time? We have a fierce mate Zero said approvingly. Yes, yes we do. “As you wish” I replied taking a line from The Princess Bride. “Oh, my dear Westly” she responded. I snickered and held open the driver’s side door for her. Getting into the passenger side I gave her directions to my dad’s house. Boy I can’t wait to see this.
