The Sister's grief

Scarlett POV.

I held amber so tightly as we both walked to take a bus home, As the bus wound its way through the village roads, Amber's gaze drifted out the window, her eyes vacant. The familiar sights and sounds of home seemed distant, muffled by the numbness that had settled over her.

"It breaks my heart seeing her like that,she has always been a bubbly person and now all she has been doing since this afternoon is to cry,I drew her closer to myself.

As the bus pulled up to the bus station,I held my sister as slowly emerged, our movements mechanical. The village folk gathered around, their faces somber, their whispers and murmurs a gentle hum in the background.

Our eyes scanned the crowd, searching for some sense of comfort, some sense of familiarity. But everything felt off, felt wrong.i couldn't shake the image of our parents' lifeless bodies, their faces pale and still.

Amber stepped into the house, her gaze fell upon our family portrait hunged on the wall,it's a reminder of what we had lost,she brought it closer to her chest as she wept bitterly.i stood beside her consoling her but all my efforts went in vain.

The village elders approached us,his eyes filled with compassion. "Scarlett we're so sorry for your loss. Your parents were good people."

I nodded, my throat constricting. I couldn't find the words to respond, couldn't find the words to express the pain and grief that was consuming me,as my face was red from crying so much.

Amber wandered into her parents bedroom,her footsteps quiet on the familiar floors.it held a memory of our parents. She felt like she was losing herself, losing the pieces of her life that had been anchored to them.i stood at the door way allowing her to grief.

A week later we buried mom and dad,it was the hardest day for us, but I had to be strong for my younger sister Amber,we both tried hard to navigate through our grief.

I made a promise to mom,that I would always take care of amber and keep her happy,I need to be strong for my sister,I have become a mother to her,I will help her heal and ensure that she feels safe and loved,so that she won't miss our parents.

We were both faced with the challenges of living alone,we both discovered the strength in the bond we share.

Amber's POV.

After the death of our parents,I haven't been myself lately,my sister Scarlett has taken the role of mom,she always makes sure that I get everything I want and always makes sure that I feel happy.

But I can't be happy in an environment that took both of our parents,I feel suffocated here,I will persuade her so we can leave this God forsaken place, maybe I can convince her for us to move to the city.

And am sure that she would agree to it, and if she doesn't I will blackmail her emotionally,yes that will work,this is the chance I have been waiting for so long .

It's already evening and it's time for Scarlett to get back from work, this is the perfect opportunity for me,I have to look like I have been crying so much,that would be able to convince her.

Scarlett POV.

Life hasn't been easy since we lost both mom and Dad,am trying my best to keep the promise I made to mom,that I will always do anything to make amber happy,she is the only family I have got left.

I dismissed from work and headed over to Amber's favorite fried chicken store,this has become a routine for me,as it always helps to cheer her up, after I got the chicken,I went home.

Am home amber,I announced as I entered the living room and met her in tears,I went closer trying to pacify her only to see her clutching our family photo so tightly,it broke my heart seeing her like that,I called out to her,as I went closer to hug her, I hugged her so tightly, what is wrong amber,why are you crying so much.

I miss mom and dad so much,I hate it here,I feel their presence everywhere, like they are all around me,I can't take it anymore.

"Shhhh it's fine amber am here with you Amber and am not going to leave your side,so please stop crying all these tears of yours are breaking my heart.

"Is there anything you want,is there anything I can do to make you feel better, please tell me what you want and I will get it done, so please stop crying.

Prefect this is what I want,you have just promised to do whatever I want and I know that you would never back out of your promises,this is so prefect,amber thought to herself.

Talk to me amber,why are you so silent,I promise to do whatever it is you want.

"Let's go to the city, let's leave this place,the memories attached here is so painful fo me to handle, please I don't want to stay here again,she said crying.

"It Breaks my heart, seeing amber in tears but her demand is way too much,I had thought that maybe she would demand for a new pairs of shoes or a new dress, but moving to the city this is something I have never thought about, but right now it's important that I pacify her and stop her tears.

Alright then, I promise you amber that we will definitely go to the city so please wipe your tears.

"Really sis,are you being serious,her face lit up with joy,

"Yes I am serious about it amber,so please stop crying already okay.

Thank you,thank you,she said hugging me happily,the joy on her face was a sight I always want to see.

Yes amber,we will go to the city and enough with all these tears okay, and I bought you some chicken wings have some.

Thank you so much sis, I love you,you are the best,she said collecting the bag.

Alright then amber, please excuse me I need to Freshen up.

Amber's POV

"Wow am such a genius, just with a few tears I was able to convince Scarlett for us to move to the city, just wait very soon I will find my prince charming and live a luxurious life

I will definitely escape this wrenched life of poverty,I said smiling to myself as I munch on the chicken wings.
