Aria. Kai took a step closer to me, his eyes tracing my figure, from the curve of the dress down to the slippers. “You’re beautiful, little omega.” My face flamed. I turned quickly, tucking my hair behind my ear, trying to brush it off. “Flattery doesn’t suit you, Blackthorn.” He laughed, the sound low and warm. “It’s not flattery if it’s true.” I didn’t trust my voice, so I walked toward the door instead. I reached for the handle, only for Kai to beat me there in a second. “I’ve got it,” he said, pulling it open with a dramatic flourish. I blinked at him. “You’re such a weirdo.” He grinned. “Only for you.” I rolled my eyes, stepping past him and out into the sunlit path leading to the lake. But I smiled too. Just a little. Where he couldn’t see. We walked in silence for a while.
