Kai met my eyes, his expression softening for a moment. “I just... wanted to see you. Is that illegal now?”
I blinked, heart doing a strange flip. “You couldn’t wait until school tomorrow?”
“That’s boring,” he replied, grinning again. “Where’s the thrill in that?”
I rolled my eyes, even though my cheeks felt warm. “Well, congratulations. You’re officially insane.”
“Maybe,” he said, and leaned against the wall. “But you smiled just now, so I’d say it was worth it.”
I looked away quickly, trying to hide the grin threatening my lips. “Shut up and sit down before you fall out the window or something.”
He slid down to the floor beside my bed like he owned the place.
