Chapter Fifteen Mel woke up completely confused. She remembered sitting with Daniel on the porch swing and then being very ill and losing her supper off the edge of the porch, but everything else was a fog. She also recalled asking Daniel for prosecco and lying on the couch while he brought her something sweet and fizzy to settle her stomach. It wasn’t prosecco, but it sure kicked like it. Now she felt muzzy headed and hungover and her mouth tasted funny. What on earth had happened? She had a vague memory of a little girl, a toddler with red hair. There was a sound from the sitting area across the room, and she watched Daniel rise from one of the chairs. He punched a number on his cell and spoke to someone. “You’re awake,” he said. “What did you do to me?” she croaked. He laughed.
