Chapter five : A gossip for boys

1164 Words
Nyla stirred first at about 6:10 a.m, her body deliciously sore in all the right places. For a blissful second, she forgot where she was until the memories flooded back. She remembered the club, the beautiful stranger with the piercing blue eyes. The way he had f****d her senseless against the kitchen island, multiple times in this very bed and later in the shower around midnight. She turned her head slowly. Alex laid beside her, still fast asleep. Even in repose he looked ridiculously handsome. His dark brown hair was tousled, his strong jaw relaxed and his broad chest rising and falling steadily. The silk sheet had slipped low on his hips, revealing the sculpted V of his abs and a hint of the impressive c**k that had ruined her for other men last night. Nyla’s cheeks burned. What the hell did I do? That was when she realized the mess she had created for herself. She had just had her first one night stand. She looked around the penthouse, taking in all the beauty it had. This was her first time being in a place as luxurious and beautiful as this. Alex groaned and turned in his sleep, snapping her back to reality. She had to disappear before he woke up. She needed to save herself from further embarrassment. She slipped out of bed carefully, trying not to wake him. Her black dress was crumpled on the floor near the doorway, her lace panties nowhere to be found. She quickly gathered her heels and clutch, moving as quietly as possible. Every step made her thighs ache in the most intimate way, reminding her exactly how many times he’d been inside her. She paused at the edge of the bed, looking down at him one last time. He had been incredible, attentive and dominant and almost reverent in the way he touched her body. For a few hours, he had made her feel wanted again. He had satisfied her in one night more than Max had done in two years. This stranger was a fallen angel, she laughed. But this was a one night stand and in as much as she would have loved to know him better, she definitely wasn’t ready for whatever complicated morning-after conversation might follow. Besides, she was done with men. With a soft sigh, Nyla clutched her things to her chest and padded barefoot toward the private elevator. She didn’t look back. The doors had just begun to close when a soft ding echoed through the penthouse. The elevator was ascending. Someone was coming up. Nyla’s heart slammed against her ribs. She froze for a split second before panic kicked in. What if it was his girlfriend? Or worse, his family? She knew nothing about the man who had spent the entire night buried inside her. He hadn’t mentioned anything personal about him. But her, oh boy! She had dropped the entire baggage of her personal life on him. How stupid! She had let a complete stranger f**k her raw and senseless while her own relationship lay in ruins. ‘God, am I any better than Max?’The thought made her stomach twist. She had been so hurt, so angry and so, she had jumped into bed with the first man who made her feel alive. No questions asked. With her heart racing, Nyla darted away from the elevator and tried to hide in the open-plan living room, ducking behind one of the massive designer sofas. Her bare feet were silent on the floor, but it was already too late because the elevator doors slid open just as she was about to turn. A tall, sharply dressed man in his early thirties stepped out, carrying a coffee tray and a laptop bag. He had an easy, confident stride and the kind of face that belonged in a magazine. He had a warm brown skin, neat fade haircut, and a charming smile that faded the second his eyes landed on her. Nyla stood there like a deer in headlights, barefoot, hair wildly rumpled from hours of being thoroughly f****d, black dress slightly wrinkled, and her strappy heels dangling awkwardly from her fingers. Trey’s eyebrows shot up. His gaze swept over her disheveled appearance, the obvious walk-of-shame evidence, then flicked toward the bedroom hallway before returning to her flushed face. “Well… good morning,” he said slowly, a mix of amusement and surprise coloring his voice. “I wasn’t expecting company this early. You must be…?” He trailed off, clearly waiting for a name. Nyla wanted the floor to swallow her whole. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment. “I—I was just leaving,” she stammered, clutching her heels tighter. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to… I should go.” Trey set the coffees down on the kitchen island, his expression softening a little. He wasn’t judging, at least not openly but there was clear curiosity in his eyes. “Relax. I’m Trey, Alex’s best friend. I usually swing by in the mornings when he’s ignoring the group chat or his parents” He glanced toward the bedroom again. “He still asleep?” Nyla nodded quickly, already backing toward the elevator. “Yeah. Look, this was… it was just one night. I’m not… I don’t usually do this. I should really go before he wakes up.” Trey studied her for a moment, then gave a small, understanding nod. “Hey, no judgment here. But you might want to at least leave your number if you’re interested in more than one night. Alex doesn’t usually let women stay over at all. This is kind of an exception.” Nyla’s heart did a strange little flip at that, but she shook her head. “No. It’s better this way. Thank you… for not making this even more awkward.” She stepped into the elevator, the doors closing on Miles’ amused but thoughtful expression. As the elevator descended, Nyla leaned against the mirrored wall and closed her eyes. What a mess. She cupped her face with her hands, letting out a muffled scream into her palms. Why was the universe never in her favor? She knew what was going to happen next. She could swear Trey was going to wake Alex up with bombarding questions. The thought made her groan. Great, now she’d be the latest conquest in their boys’ gossip circle. By the time the elevator reached the lobby, Nyla had managed to slip her heels back on and smooth her hair as best as she could. She kept her head down as she walked through the luxurious building, ignoring the curious glance from the doorman. The moment she stepped outside into the bright morning sun, she hailed the first cab she saw and gave the driver her address. She needed a long shower, her own bed, and maybe a good cry. Last night had been incredible… but it was supposed to stay a secret. A beautiful, unidentifiable mistake.
