Ten: I knew it.

**ESTELLE** Walking from that room has to be the hardest thing I think I ever could have done. 'And the dumbest. We should just leave now and show up at his pack. That way nothing else happens to us.' Darra says with a whimper. 'We can't just show up. I don't want to anger him. He said if anything happens to me, THEN we come to his pack. He said it is dangerous and that is something I should trust.' She sighs and lays down in my mind. Leaving me to my thoughts as I make it to my room in the basement. Hoping to not have to see him as he drives away from this pack, leaving me here.. I start stuffing just a few torn pieces of clothing into a bag to hide under my floorboards when I hear my door open and I quickly discard what I am doing. The creaking from the floorboards on the steps that lead to my room is getting louder and much heavier as they grow near. I know who it is. I don't want to face him right now. He will smell my mate on me. Oh my gods, my mate. I didn't even get his name.. "What are you doing, little Luna?" He chimes at me. I start to shiver, it looks like I am just cleaning up my room. "C-clean-ning my m-mess." I stutter out. "Hhmm. What you aren't doing is preparing my dinner and washing my laundry. Do you think that your needs come before your Alpha's?" He growls, causing my teeth to chatter together. "N-no.. Alph-pha." I stutter some more. "I'm-m s-sorry." A stray tear falls down my cheek. I wish so badly that my mate would come down the stairs, kill this Alpha and take me away. But my wishes fall on deaf ears.. No wish I will ever have will come true; that is just a cold, hard fact I will have to face all my life. "Get upstairs and do what you are here to do. I'll deal with you accordingly later." He growls, waiting for me to leave my room. Which I do quickly. 'I wish we were strong enough to take him.' Darra growls in my head, and there have been many times that I wish the same. When I come back up the stairs, I don't even realize I am crying so I quickly wipe my tears before heading into the kitchen, where a few warrior maids are gossiping. "Did you see the Gamma? He is huge." One girl says. "And did you know they are all unmated? What a dream! I'd take all three." I silently scoff. Not all of them are unmated. "They may be unmated, Jane. But I hear the Beta has a girlfriend. He may even take her as a chosen mate." My eyes are wide but I'm not looking at anything. I can feel my chest begin to twist and the ache that I am feeling is unbearable. "Well either way they are getting ready to leave now, so I'm going out front to say goodbye." The girl giggled while the other one follows her out. Leaving me cooking in the kitchen. Unable to move but I feel like I'm on autopilot. My mate has a girlfriend. He already has someone. He said it was too dangerous to go to his pack right now. But he never mentioned a girlfriend. Maybe that's why it's too dangerous. Too dangerous for me. I mean I am an omega after all. I don't have much to offer him, other than the mate bond. And for a strong Beta like him, that might not be enough. 'You can't think like that Stelle, I saw the truth and the love in his eyes when we were talking. He wants us. He cares for us. You shouldn't listen to the gossip of this hell hole.' Darra growls at just the thought of our mate being untrustworthy. But that is something I have learned in my 23 years of surviving this earth is that you cannot trust anyone. No matter how much you want to. You just can't. I look down and have thankfully finished Alastar's food and I start walking it to his room. I get a few head nods from people. Whispers about me that don't quite reach my ears. Looks of shock. It must have gotten out what Alastar claimed. But I'm sure that will never happen, I'll never be Luna of this pack. I'll never be anything to any pack. Because when I leave here, I am going to become a rogue. I'd rather die in the forest than die here. At least I'd have a chance then. Here I KNOW I'll parish. But an honorable death where I can have a chance at some sort of freedom would be worth it. I swallow my plans, and an uneasy feeling crawls up my spine as I open the heavy wooden door to Alastar's room. I walk to the table in the corner to set his food down, and it is eerily quiet. All the lights are off except for the bedside table lamp. I look around the room for dirty clothes, and trash. Anything that needs to be cleaned up, I don't need to add to a punishment I already don't deserve. When I make it to the bed to straighten it up, I feel a very hard, very skull-aching thud to the base of my neck, but I know better than to cry or scream. It will only make it worse. I feel a hand twirl fingers into my hair and snatch me from the floor, pain ruminating through my scalp, opening the wound that isn't even fully healed. "I smell him on you." He growls. "He got entirely too close to what is mine." Through my tears, I scream. "What is yours? You don't want me in the way it was intended. All you do is abu-.." Before I could finish my sentence, a punch to my mouth split my lip to the point of almost knocking a tooth out. But not quite. "What did you think being a Luna would be like? A fairytale, I would fall to your feet in love with you?" He growls, smacking me again.. "You thought that I would protect you and love you. Ha!" He says, smacking me in the mouth. "Is that what that Beta promised you? That he loved you and wanted to take you away? Well, let me let you in on a little secret. That Beta, just like everyone else, doesn't give a flying f**k about you, Estelle. Now stop f*****g moving and take your punishment." He growled again. The punches keep coming, and suddenly I screech in pain at the feel of a cold medal piercing my side and I am almost positive that it struck my lungs. Darra is already too weak to heal me. My breathing becomes ragged. I feel my clothes being ripped and a few more stabs to add to my already growing collection of scars. I have grown accustomed to the beatings but now, I think he is finally killing me this time. I can't even feel my wounds anymore. Maybe it's the numbness of my blood draining, or the adrenaline pumping through my veins. Either way, I hope this is it. My only regret is I didn't get to look into those beautiful golden eyes one last time that belonged to my gorgeous mate.. "My... Mate..." I let out before succumbing to the darkness within me.
