12: Please Heal

1182 Words
**TORA** Something isn't right. Argos has never tried to push forward like this. He has never tried to take hold of my body without my permission. Not only that, it's supposed to be f*****g impossible for any wolf to do this other than the Alphas. I can hear Cree and Jericho barking orders. I can mainly hear Cree talking to the Healer and telling Jericho that if Argos keeps trying to force his way to the forefront I could die. But in all honesty, I don't think that's right. Even the attempt should have killed me. But for whatever reason, I am still breathing. My wold is strong and wise and if he is trying to break through the surface it should be for a good reason. I hear Cree yell in my mind. 'God dammit, Tora. Push Argos back..' I can hear him yell something to Argos in my mind but it's so muffled I can't make it out. So I finally let go of the hold and let Argos gain control of my body. I either die, or I live. But fighting my wolf like this could be my demise quicker than it could be if I just give in. 'Tora.. It's Estelle!!' I hear Argos say through the link but the muffledness is gone. 'What do you mean it's Estelle?' I growl. And as I am waiting for an answer, Argos howls so loudly that the ground beneath us shakes. The doors are rattling, and the tables are shaking. It seems as if the pain in his howl is causing an earthquake. He immediately launches us out of the hospital room, knocking gurneys into the walls. Barking at everyone to stay down. Cree is in his wolf form hot on my heels while Jericho is waiting at the hospital to assess the damages caused by whatever earthquake that was. There is an odd stench that halts me right as I reach the forest line. The autumn breeze whipped through my fur. But the metallic smell of blood mixed with something else has Argos on edge. When I am finally able to decipher that it is mixed with peach cobbler, Argos is going completely mad. Another ground rattling howl he releases from his jaws, scaring every animal in the forest. Scurrying creatures are scaring a figure on the ground where the blood is getting thicker. Staining the earth beneath their body. A groan and a whine from the dark figure on the ground perks my ears up. But the smell. The smell is intoxicating. Weakening all of my senses and almost dropping Argos to the ground. Every cell in my body is igniting devastation and heartbreak. Because when I finally fixate my eyes on the figure on the ground in a pool of their blood, ice runs through my veins, freezing my heart and standing every hair on this wolf's body to a point. It's my f*****g mate. And all I can think about is the moment I laid eyes on Julri not too far from here. I can feel the sadness and the tears falling inside the shared mind of Argos and myself, and I can tell he is shedding real tears for his mate. Argos immediately shifts back, letting me take control to take her form into my arms. So much blood. Too much blood is gone from her body. I can hear her faint heartbeat, thumping so lightly in her chest and that gives me a sense of relief. And so then I think of something I never have thought of before. But honestly, I'll try the most ludacris things to keep this beautiful mate of mine alive. I extend my canines and rip them into my arm. I start pouring blood from my wrist onto her almost purple lips. "Please heal.. Please.. Estelle.. HEAL!!!" I cried, watching the blood from my wrist trickle down her throat. Her faint heartbeat is getting stronger. So this is my chance to get her to the pack house. Cree finally catches up with me and his eyes widen in shock at the scene. I can hear him in the mind link letting everyone know that we are on our way to the pack hospital with someone in critical condition. I can't focus, all I can do is focus on her breathing. How many beats her heart is thumping in her chest? I have to make sure there is no wheezing. I hear her cough, but the cough scares me because I fear it is exactly what it sounds like. "Estelle.. Stay with me. Please be okay." Once I get to the pack house, Jericho is ushering us in. Leading us to the gurney. A doctor and a nurse try to take her from me. And I growl. "I'm not f*****g leaving her side," I say in my Beta tone. Everyone stiffens. I never use my Beta tone. EVER. "Very well, Beta." The doctors say, nodding to me. Tell me where to take her and place her. I can see everyone crowding around her hospital bed, getting her pulse. This is very much becoming a harsh trauma scene that I will have to live with for the rest of my life. Jericho is standing behind me, telling me it will be okay. "I left her in her pack. I thought she would be safe. I TOLD her she would be safe! AND I LIED. I LIED TO MY f*****g MATE!!! AND I LEFT HER AND NOW SHE MIGHT DIE!!!" I said, enraged with myself. Tears flowed from a broken damn of pain that I didn't even know I had built up. "You did what you thought was right, Tora. But let's focus on her. Cree is tracking her blood. It looks like she's been bleeding for a while. She escaped from something. It could very well be whatever is taking our pack members and what killed Julri.." He says. Sadness and pity filled his voice. It seems like they have her breathing under control, the monitors aren't going crazy anymore. "Are you her mate, Beta Tora?" Doctor Delvin asks as he is signing papers from nurses on the next steps to her healing. I hear something about CT scans and X-rays. "Yes, she is my mate. Is she going to make it? Please tell me she is going to be okay." I plead through a few more tears. As he opens his mouth to talk, I hear someone behind me speak. "Your mate?" A sad Adrienne says with a couple of tears rolling down her face before she runs from the room. Fuck. I hadn't even had a chance to tell her. "Continue please Doctor Delvin," I say, trying to focus on the woman I need to live. The woman I already broke a promise to, and it almost got her killed. I'll deal with Adrienne later because there is no way in hell I am letting Estelle wake up without me by her side. My sole focus has to be on her, because it wasn't and this happened.. Never again.
