13: Revelation

*TORA* Her condition looks worse than I thought it was. That pool of blood I found her in was heavier than I thought. They brought in machines to take pictures of every wound inside and out. They have her almost naked on the bed and it is taking everything in me not to shift again. But I have to tell Argos and myself that this is for her health. This is what needs to be done to help her so she can live. But something is digging into my chest as I finally notice everything. She is bleeding from many gashes and wounds and none of it is stopping, which means her wolf is too weak. Her cheeks look broken, and both of her lips are split in several spots. My lip begins to quiver in pain and anger. Her eyes are swollen shut. She looks like she has been hit by a f*****g truck. I see the doctors stitching up her back. Multiple stab wounds. Not by claws, but by knives. It can't be the creature that killed Julri. But someone with a grudge against Estelle. But who? She was so sweet and soft-spoken when I met her. My eyes trail over her body and they land on her thighs... The blood in my veins is going from ice to lava causing me to lose my balance. Finger bruises line the insides of her legs, all the way to her hip with a fine slice right on her pelvic area. I feel like I could lose consciousness any second. Why would anyone do this? Then I realize something, The Alpha claimed her as his chosen mate. I have to call him to let him know what happened to her. Maybe he knows of someone that could've hurt her. But then again that would require me to tell him she is here. Cree finally walks in and walks directly toward me. "We need to talk Tora." His voice brings me out of thinking of the heartbreak my mate has gone through. "Cree... " I whine. He wraps his arms around me in a huge hug. He has been mine and Jericho's best friend since we were all small kids. "Someone r***d her. They tried to defile her in every way and they beat her to a bloody pulp. I shouldn't have left her." I start to cry harder than I ever have before. "What if it was my presence that caused this? What if someone in the pack saw realizes what she is to me and decided to really mess her up and almost kill her??" I sob slightly into his shoulder. "I know. I know man. You can't think like that though. You can't blame yourself. It sucks, and I can't even imagine how I would feel if this were... Um.. my mate... But I found something that might help us find who did this." I instantly become all ears. "Well... What is it?" I feel as if time is stopping when he pulls out a solid gold Figaro necklace with a crescent moon and a wolf head howling in the middle. It's real and expensive. But it's completely covered in blood and dirt. "I think whoever attacked her, she fought back. And hard. I stopped one of the nurses as she was coming out of the room and they clipped her nails. Whoever did this, she scratched them to hell because their DNA is under her fingernails." "So why are you standing here talking to me?? Run it through the database, Cree!!" I growl, ready to just beat his ass for even wasting his time stopping in to tell me that instead of running it. He could've just brought me a name so I can handle this immediately. "Tora, calm down. I already had it run the moment we did it. And I even stood over the man running it and told him if he didn't get me a result in ten minutes he was spending a week in the dungeon. Whoever it is has a rare blood type. And they aren't in the system." He says with a furrowed brow. "How is it not in the system? It's a worldwide supernatural database. EVERYONE is in the system.." I growl, shaking the room. And before I can even focus on anything else, Estelle's monitors start going haywire. I speed back to her side and the tears start falling again. "What's wrong? Is she going to be okay?" I cry. I'm not even ashamed of it. If I lose her, I'll die. I want my mate. I want her with me. "She has a brain bleed and her wolf is too weak to heal her. We have to get her into surgery. If we go now, we can repair it and she should be fine. But we can't waste any time." I can feel my chest tightening. I lean down and kiss her forehead as they unlock her bed wheels and take her out of the room. Leaving me sitting there digesting that my mate could die on the surgery table... Cree places his hand on my shoulder. "Come on, we need to go meet with Jericho. And you have to talk to Adrienne. Tell her everything." I rub my eyes in frustration. "She already knows. She watched me from the doorway call Estelle my mate. She knows I want my mate. I always told her I would want my mate if I ever found them" I sighed. That is the last thing I want to deal with right now. It gets weirdly silent and I reach out to get the necklace from Cree and he hands it to me. I walk to the sink that is in the room and start washing it off. I hear Jericho come into the room and Cree goes over everything with him. Even the part where someone forced themselves on my mate... I have already started to drown them out. There has to be some indication under the blood as to who it belongs to. All I can think about is mind linking the doctors to see how it's going but I know that will only be a distraction. When my eyes lock on a small engravement on the moon of the necklace's pendant, I feel my heart drop to my feet. My breathing becomes shallow. I can still hear Jericho and Cree talking behind me. "To my Son, you are loved beyond the Moon, Little Prince." I read it out loud in a whisper. Jericho and Cree flank both of my sides and read it too. "Someone loved their kid but maybe not enough. Too bad he is turning out to be a dead pile of shit." Jericho growls. One small lead, and a good 12 hours until I know if I have a mate or not... The anxiety might kill me before she gets back... 'Estelle baby. Please be okay.'
