*TORA*
“Is she okay?” Jericho asks from the doorway, trying to soothe the hospital. He needs a Luna, even when he is trying his hardest his aura is still so imitating.
I look at my beautiful but timid mate. “She could be better, but that definitely didn’t help. I don’t understand. This type of thing happens all the time, why would he attack me like that?” I say to Jericho but my eyes never leave her.
“Go get her fed, and you guys will need to meet me in the conference room to talk to Adrienne. I already have her waiting there. I will go talk to Cree and escort him there. This situation will hopefully be squashed today.” He sighs, and when I look at him he is rubbing his eyes.
“He is very exhausted, you guys must really put him through the ringer.” I hear her angelic voice fill the room.
I just chuckle. “Ms. Estelle, I appreciate you thinking of me. That is very kind.” He says with a smile. “Someone is going to have to, your Luna will be arriving here soon.” I say without another thought.
Estelle’s eyes are c****d in confusion and Jericho’s eyes are widened as big as the moon.
“What are you talking about Tora?” He says moving closer to me. “I don’t know why I just said that but it just came right out of my mouth.”
‘It’s happening.’ Argos says, smiling in my head.
Jericho’s frustration is at a peak. “We will be up in about 30 minutes.” I say scooping her into my arms. I walk out of the room and out of the hospital, all eyes on us.
“Everyone is looking at us.” Estelle whispers.
“I don’t normally tote women in my arms around the packhouse, love. It’s a very unusual site.” I chuckle, and just having her in my arms is chasing away the fatigue I feel in my muscles.
“Not even your girlfriend?” She says, looking away at the path ahead. “Not even my girlfriend.” I assure her. A few minutes of walking goes by and she speaks again.
“I could probably walk, you don’t have to carry me, I am feeling a bit better.” She speaks up.
“Are you asking me to put you down? As much as I enjoy holding you, whatever you ask of me, I will do.” I smile, trying to reassure her I meant what I said.
“I am enjoying not having to use my muscles, but I think I need to try or you’ll have to carry mr everywhere.” She giggles. Without hesitation, I set her on her feet and wrap my arm around her to help her stand. She seems slightly disappointed.
“So why don’t you tell me some things about you? I’d like to know everything you are willing to tell me.” I say, trying to make her feel more comfortable on our walk.
“There isn’t much to know. I guess just ask what you would like to know.” She says a little tiredly.
“Favorite color?” I ask as we make it to the packhouse dining room side door. A warrior is kind enough to hold the door open for us, but his eyes are trailing over Estelle. But oddly enough I don’t have to growl at him to fix his eyes, because the anger-fueled roar coming from the hospital does it for him.
Well this will be an interesting night.
“Uhm, coral or purple I think. Unsure to be completely honest.” She says as the warrior cowers holding the door open.
“You think?” I say with an arched eyebrow.
“Yes, I think. It’s been a while since I have seen a ton of colors.” She says in a whisper as if it an embarrassing revelation.
*CREE*
He should have brought her back the moment he found out she was his mate. He could’ve brought her home, told Adrienne he was sorry he found his mate, and then, JUST THEN, I could’ve had my mate without any strings. She has stayed with Tora because she felt she really loved him, but even if she loves him, I am her mate. And she didn’t reject me. She wants me, she just didn’t know how to go about the situation.
Now, now she has been broken, and hurt and I don’t care if it was by my bestfriend I am f*****g mad about it.
“Gamma. Are you alright? You need to stay in bed..” I hear the nurses say as they are trying to make me lay back down, but I need to go see her.
“I am fine.” And of course, as soon as my feet hit the floor, so does my whole body.
“Cree, get your ass back into that f*****g bed right now.” The power of authority rushes through my blood and forces me back to my feet and to lay down.
“Dammit Jericho, I have somewhere to be.” I growl, trying to mind link Adrienne to tell her I am coming to see her. I am not going to let her be alone.
“And if you don’t let the damn nurses take care of you, you won’t make it there. If it’s Adrienne you need to see, save your breath. She is at the pack house, waiting for me, Tora and Estelle to go back. Tora should have told her, but I think under the circumstances he really hasn’t had a chance. But what the hell has gotten into you, to attack your Beta, AND BEST DAMN FRIEND MAN?” Jericho is rarely disappointed, and I hate it when I feel like he is disappointed in me.
I hang my head, it’s now or never I might as well tell him before this meeting with us all commences.
“She’s my mate, Jer.” I whisper as the nurses clear the room from getting me set back up on the machines for fluids. Tora knocked the s**t out of me so this will help.
“Who is your mate, Cree?” He growls slightly through gritted teeth.
“Adrienne. Adrienne is my mate dammit.” I growl. There is a silence that is filling the room. He waits a few minutes before responding.
“How long have you known?” Jericho asks me. I can’t even fix myself to look at him. I know this question is coming, not only from him but it will come from Tora too.
“Since she turned 21.”
“How long have you been seeing her?” I have to pause to take a breath.
“Since she turned 21.” The air goes still in the room, there is a small chill floating.
And then a roar escapes him and shakes the bed I am laying on.
He starts to pace, talking to himself. Probably trying to find a way for this to be an easy revelation to Tora.. Hopefully he won’t care too much now since he has found his mate.
“I am trying to find a way that this will end well, but there isn’t. Tora might not care what happens to Adrienne’s love life now that he has found his mate, but I can tell you the hurt of you two sneaking behind his back is going to be a wound that will be hard to heal. But you are going to tell him. I will just be there to make sure he doesn’t kill you. Which he would have every right to do.” He growls and reaches for the cold hospital door knob.
“Be in the conference room in 15 minutes.” And he slams the door as he walks away.
‘f*****g moron. You should have told him before now. And before trying to beat his ass. That has never been a fight you could win.’ Cedric sighs in frustration as I throw my head back onto the pillow.
‘Now I have 15 minutes to figure out how to break the news to him.’
A 15 minute nap it is.
