Leah I forced my voice level. “Shouldn’t it be your job to investigate? I’ve already told you what happened. You have the physical evidence—my injuries, the d**g in my system—” The door banged open without a knock. A woman strode in—brunette hair pulled into a severe bun, red eyes sharp enough to cut glass, tailored suit that screamed money and menace. She carried herself like she owned the building and everyone in it. The fat officer shot to his feet. “Judge Reed! Good evening, ma’am.” She didn’t acknowledge him.
