Chapter Two Delores Jackson Engagement Night "Do you realize you haven't said a word to me since you got here?" He questioned and I locked gaze with him for a brief second but I couldn't hold his gaze since I was shy of him. "Really?" I muttered, my gaze on my wine glass but I could feel his eyes boring into me. "Where is your sister, Delores? I know you are not Delilah." He stated and I nearly dropped the glass. My gaze shot up to meet his. My mouth fell agape but nothing came out of my mouth. "She has ran away right? And you let her?" He said through gritted teeth which made me shudder. He tried not to attract stares so he pulled me away with him upstairs into one of the rooms in the house. In the seclusion of the room, he locked it and my heart beat faster in my chest. "Where has she gone to?" He pressed. I looked away. "What are you saying? I am Delilah. What makes you think that I'm not Delilah?" I stuttered. "You are Delilah? I don't believe it." He shook his head angrily. I could feel him getting angry but Delilah told me not to let him know she was gone. "I am your fiancée, Jordan." I stated more firmly this time. "You are then, undress and make love to me right now. If you are truly my fiancée you won't think twice about doing that. Come on, undress." He stated stoutly and stood there, waiting. I didn't know what to do? "Should I help you?" Before I knew it, he had ripped off my red evening gown and I grabbed it in time before it could fall off completely. I gasped. "Where is your sister, Delores? I won't ask you again?" He questioned, his voice full of anger now. "I don't know, I really don't know...... " I cried as I held the ripped gown closer to my chest. Trying to hide my nakedness with the ripped clothe. "She didn't tell you? Why did you let her go? Aren't you in charge of her?" He barked. "I didn't see her, I only got a letter and that's why I can't watch you make a fool out of yourself today so I came so just go out there and postpone the marriage, Jordan because your fiancée isn't around." I yelled. "No. You are going to fix this for your sister, Delores. I won't become a public ridicule. You either replace her or I cut off my support for your family." He threatened. "Are you threatening me?" I frowned. "Stating the fact. Your mother needs my money. At least that's what your sister wanted but she didn't think about losing that." He spat angrily. "Delilah loves you, if she thought about the money she wouldn't have left." "And if she really loves me she wouldn't have asked you to replace her. She's a cheat and a whore." He insulted. "My sister loves you, she told me that." "Will you bet on it?" "Yes. That I'll do whatever you want if she doesn't love you, which she does. She always tells me stories about you...... Delilah loves you and she wanted to save you from disgrace." I enlightened and he just stood there. "Then marry me and save me from the disgrace or your mother's condition will go worse." He threatened again. I nodded reluctantly after I thought about it. "This should be between us, I don't want my mother to know about this." He added. "How long?" "Until she returns you aren't walking away." He stated and tears fell on their own. "You can borrow some clothes from my step sister. Check the closet." He pointed and left the room. I plopped down a seat nearby and wept bitterly. Someone ran into the room and I got startled. I remember Jordan introduced her as his step sister. She had long blonde hair and she was so beautiful with an hour glass body. "Oh my goodness, Delores. I'm really sorry for everything. Did he hurt you?" I was astonished that she knew my real name. "I overheard both of you back there. I'm sorry. Come on, let's get you changed." She rushed to her closet and chose a dress for me. I quickly changed and came out. Jordan was waiting for me with his hands in his pocket. "Tell your mother you can't go home. I won't let you since you can also leave me like that sister of yours. So let's go say goodbye to the guests." He said and I nodded. The girl gave me a pathetic look as I left with Jordan. We went to say goodbye to everyone and I cried when I hugged mother. I was so scared. "Mother, where is Alvin?" "He left, dear. He couldn't stand it. Now take good care of yourself dear. I'll go ahead now." Mother waved and left. When all the guests had left, Jordan turned to me. "I'm really sorry for what happened earlier but your sister has really broken my heart and I don't think I'll be able to forgive her. You are staying here till she comes back so get prepared. I'll have someone go over for your things too." He said and left. ******
