Chapter 7

Herdon went straight to his in-laws when he got home.

"Um, can I talk to the both of you?" Herdon said as he looked around.

"And why is that?" Mr. Ray throws him a sharp stare.

"Please... While my wife doesn't know that I'm already here, I want to talk to you as my in-laws. And this has nothing to do with Cassandra," explains Herdon.

"What is this you want to talk about?" Mrs. Elaine asked.

"No, no, no, sweetheart... We won't give him any chance," disagreed Mr. Ray.

Mrs. Elaine sighed before she holds her husband's hands. She's trying to cool down her husband's emotion.

"Sweetheart..." sighed Mr. Ray.

"I want to hear him out... Whatever he wants to say, let's listen for our Cassandra," Mrs. Elaine said to her husband.

Mr. Ray let out a heavy sigh before he nodded looking at Herdon.

The three went outside, in the backyard. Trying to not make any noise so that Cassandra won't know.

"Start," Mr. Ray demanded, inserting his hands into his pockets.

"Um... I know that you don't want me for your daughter," Herdon started.

"Yes, from the very beginning..." Mr. Ray interrupted.

Herdon became uneasy after what Mr. Ray said.

"Yes... I am very aware of that... That's why I want to try my best to be deserving of your daughter," Herdon sincerely said.

Mr. Ray and Mrs. Elaine looked at each other.

"We believe that you're trying ever since, Herdon. You see, we already accepted you but not a hundred percent. Let's say, fifty percent. But then this happens, and I'm afraid that from fifty percent, it goes down to five percent, to be honest," Mr. Ray boldly said.

"That's why I'm here to tell you that I'm gonna make that a hundred percent now... And I need you to give me a chance. Because honestly speaking, I am willing to risk my life for Cassandra because I love her. That's why I did my best to escape so that they could not use me against her," Herdon explained himself.

Long silence. Then Herdon smiled at them both before he walked back inside.

"Your thoughts?" Mr. Ray walked a little to see if Herdon can still hear them.

"I just want our daughter to be happy and safe at the same time..." exhaled Mrs. Elaine.

Then Mrs. Elaine hugged Mr. Ray wishing that they're wrong about Herdon. There is nothing a parent could wish for other than for their daughter's safety. This time, they both wanted to believe that Herdon is a good man...

Cassandra was silently eating when Herdon started to talk. They are having dinner and Cassandra's parents are also at the table.

"Is there any chance that we can have dinner tomorrow in someplace?" Herdon breaks the silence.

The three looked at him.

Herdon chuckled, "I just want to give us some bonding that I think we didn't have before," his eyes were begging.

"You really think that is a good idea regardless of what we're facing now?" Mrs. Elaine disagreed with Herdon.

"No," Herdon looked at them, "I'm just trying to get us some time. I know that I am not deserving of Cassandra. But at least let me try," he was teary-eyed.

"Cassandra... If it sounds good to you, we agree," Mr. Ray turned to Cassandra.

Herdon was enlivened hearing Mr. Ray. He knew that Cassandra won't say no.

"I-I don't think it was a good idea..." Cassandra sadly said. Herdon was surprised.

"W-what? I mean... Is there a problem, hon?" Herdon tried to get Cassandra's reason. Of all people, he sees Cassandra not to disagree with him especially that his idea was to get close with his in-laws. Now, he doesn't understand why would Cassandra disagree.

"You heard him, Herdon," Mr. Ray picked up his spoon and fork to continue his food.

"Let's continue eating," Mrs. Elaine concurs.

Herdon chose not to speak anymore because it was her wife who disagreed. But as they continue eating, Cassandra puts down her spoon and fork then she faced Herdon.

"It's not that I don't want it, hon... It's just..." Cassandra paused.

Herdon waited for Cassandra's next words. He was hoping that Cassandra has a very reasonable explanation. Her parents were also waiting.

"My legs are not still in good condition, hon... This means we will be having dinner outside with me and my wheelchair. And that doesn't make me comfortable," exclaimed Cassandra.

"Is that it?" Herdon with smiles all over his face. Cassandra nodded with a tear.

Herdon cupped Cassandra's face and he kissed her forehead saying "You don't have to feel that way because I'd be honored to push your wheelchair... Because you are my wife... I will be proud of you no matter what because I love you... You don't have to be afraid because I am here..." his words were truly sincere that made Cassandra burst into tears. She was truly lucky to have Herdon...

As for Mr. Ray and Mrs. Elaine, they were also moved by Herdon's words. They were also happy to see Cassandra gain her confidence again because of Herdon.

That night, Cassandra asked Herdon to take her in the shower. Cassandra doesn't want Herdon to help her in taking a bath or taking a shower before. But this time, she used her condition as an alibi.

"You naughty girl," chuckled Herdon. He knew that Cassandra is teasing him. And he must admit that he missed his wife.

Cassandra started taking off her clothes and Herdon turned on the shower.

"I'm not taking a shower..." Herdon whispered.

"Then do everything so that you won't get wet..." Cassandra whispered back.

"I'm not... You're the one who will get wet here..." Cassandra feels Herdon's breath on his neck.

Herdon started caressing Cassandra's body. Then he kissed Cassandra aggressively.

"Uhmmm... Easy..." Cassandra giggled.

Herdon's hand was already on Cassandra's breast, "I miss you..." he just mumbled.

Herdon lifts Cassandra and they went to their bed. When Herdon puts down Cassandra on the bed, he hurriedly took off his clothes as he was staring at Cassandra's body.

"You are beautiful..." Herdon expressed before he kissed Cassandra.

They are both moaning and Herdon couldn't help it anymore. So he fixed Cassandra's position and he went at her back.

"I... thought you don't like this position..." Cassandra said with her eyes closed, still feeling the sensation.

"I just missed you so much..." Herdon managed to answer her while getting ready to get inside her.

"Ahhh..." Cassandra moaned when Herdon finally went inside her.

The silence of the night doesn't stop them to enjoy what they're doing.

What they didn't know is that there's someone outside who was looking at their house...
