The basement unveiled itself as a dimly lit space, and there, standing next to a peculiar pull system chain, was Cade, the orchestrator of our newfound destiny. I eyed the chain with a raised eyebrow.
"And what's this?" I asked, the tone of sarcasm dripping from my words.
Cade's eyes glinted with amusement. "Ah, that. Allow me to introduce you to our little secret. This is the creature you'll be feeding and taking care of. Consider it a guardian of sorts."
