Simon thought Elaine had made her feelings very clear.
But he did not expect himself to fall even deeper into obsession and humiliation.
Somehow, he managed to find Elaine's current address overseas.
He waited outside the villa and kept calling her name over and over again.
"Elaine! I know you are in there! Please give me one more chance! Come out and see me! I can explain everything!"
His voice was hoarse and broken, almost falling apart.
Upstairs, behind the second-floor window, Elaine stood quietly watching the figure kneeling in the rain below.
Then, she reached out and slowly pulled the curtains shut.
She put on her headphones, and music filled her ears.
Outside, the rain fell in thin sheets.
The soft sound of rain was shut out, but not the man's heartbreaking cries.
