7 months later.
A farmer and his wife were walking hand in hand going on their evening walk when they heard a baby crying. Looking at each other, they hurried over and saw a small baby bundled up crying his little eyes out, red in the face.
The wife picked him up. “Where is the mother?’ Her husband asked bewildered, looking around,
“I don’t know, poor thing.
Taking the baby and the thin blanket, they walked back to the house. As the wife was preparing a bottle left over from when their grandkids were young, the husband started pacing the floor.
Sitting down, he looked at his wife. “Now, Martha, I know what you are thinking, and we just can’t keep him”. Looking sad, she just agrees with him. “I know, but he is so helpless.”
“I understand, and you have a good heart, but we are moving soon and there is no way we can take him with us. Besides, he will do better with his people. I am sure someone will know his mother. There is a camp not far from here. I will go tomorrow and ask around”.
“Ok”
The next day, the farmer sets off to find someone to help. Late that night, he comes home with a very tall man.
“Martha honey I am home.”
Martha comes out holding the baby. “Oh hello,” she takes John’s hand after her husband introduces them.
“John here knows where the mother is and is willing to take the baby back.”
“Oh good, well, I have some clothes and a few things I think she will need.”
“Thank you, that is mighty kind of you. If you don’t mind, I would like to get back before it gets too late. I know she is anxious to get her daughter back. “
Bewildered, the farmer looks at his wife. “I thought it was a boy.”
“Well yes, he is a she” Laughing, Martha hands the baby over to John and gets the rest of the stuff for him. They walk him to the porch and wave to him as he drives away.
Looking down at the baby, John had a malicious grin on his face. They have been looking for this baby for some time and now that they have her, Samar-Lynn will never be able to leave.
When John gets to camp, the first thing he does is walk up to Samar-Lynn's tent. She looks up and gasps when she sees John holding her baby. She knew that things were about to get worse, not only for her but for her little girl too.
