Chapter 10

Sarah felt intense heat around her as if she stood in front of a fire. Her cheek pressed against a glassy cool surface as sweat rolled down her forehead and drip onto the glassy surface. A booming voice caused her to open her eyes and sit up suddenly. "You were created to awaken us Afriel!" The voiced boomed from all around. Sarah looked around for the voice. Panic rose up in her throat as she breathed in short rapid breaths. Sarah noticed that she sat on a black glassy surface. The surface felt cool to the touch, but it was as hard as stone. Looking down she also noticed that she wore a dark green dress. The dress beautifully tailored and stitched with gold thread. Sweat rolled down her back and between her breasts from the stifling hot room. The entire room had the same black glassy look to it, designed in a semi-circle with strange markings on the ceiling. In the corner burned a huge fire, which explained the heat of the room. The black glass with its smoky appearance sucked the light from the room, leaving it in partial darkness. Standing slowly, she felt dizzy from the heat and stumbled against a table. Sarah wiped sweat from her forehead and out of her eyes with the back of her hand. The table looked more like a slab carved out of the same materials as the room. Her breath caught in her throat and she stumbled away from the table when she saw four sets of chains with shackles attached to the slab. 'Dear god,' Sarah thought crossing herself, 'what is that? Why am I here?' "You will awaken us soon!" Boomed the voice again, echoing from all around. "Who are you?" Sarah cried out looking around, "Why am I here?" She was the only person in the room. "Your time will come soon enough Afriel." The voice laughed, "You will have to choose." "Choose what?" Sarah yelled, "I don't understand!" The room wavered in front of her eyes and faded from view. She opened her eyes suddenly feeling warm and constricted. Breathing with short rapid breaths she felt sweat run into her eyes. She rubbed the sweat out of her eyes and looked around realizing that she was in bed with her cheek on Adam's chest. She closed her eyes taking deep breathes. Sarah head rose with Adam's breathing, which helped calm her panicked breathing. 'Where was I?' Sarah thought, 'What choice must I make?' She felt her heartbeat match Adam's as she thought about the room. Snuggling closer to him, Adam tightened his arm around her. She smiled, remembering their lovemaking from what seemed only a few hours earlier. The memory made her body feel warmer and she rubbed her cheek against his chest moaning lightly forgetting about the nightmare. She looked up and noticed Adam looking down at her with his golden eyes. Sarah smiled brightly, climbing on top of him and kissing him lightly. Adam ran his fingers through her slightly damp hair and kissed Sarah passionately. Sarah shivered as his hand ran down the spine of her back and cupped her bottom. "Guess I should bring you flowers more often," Adam said breaking the kiss, but keeping his hand on her bottom. "I guess you should," Sarah replied as her hair surrounded Adam's face, "You have a very warm body." Sarah smiled. "It seems you are quite warm yourself." Adam added, placing his other hand on her bottom. Sarah's stomach let out rubble of hunger and she laughed heartily. Adam knowing he has heard that laugh before felt a pain in his heart. He masked the pain by laughing as well. "You must be starving, Sarah." Adam said with concern. "I feel famished." Sarah replied. "I will fix dinner for us." Adam suggested. "That sounds wonderful," Sarah replied and rolled off Adam onto her back and stretched. Adam could not help but admire her shapely young body. Sarah's breasts were round and firm, and her long shapely legs with slim waist. He leaned over and kissed her again. Sarah taken by surprise, smiled as he kissed her. Adam climbed on top of Sarah and parted her legs. She felt his erect organ between her legs. Adam moved his hips slightly pushing against her opening and Sarah moaned. The growling sound from her stomach stopped Adam from entering her. "Sarah," Adam breathed deeply as he stopped kissing her, "I should really get you something to eat." "Ok," Sarah said with disappointment, "Do you think we could later?" Adam saw the hopeful look on her face and nodded with a smile. He climbed off her, pulled on pants and a shirt. Sarah rolled onto her side and watched him. She smiled watching his lean muscular body disappear behind the shirt. He leaned over and kissed her lightly on the lips. Afterwards, Adam walked downstairs to make dinner for them. Sarah lied in bed for moment thinking about the room from her nightmare and Adam. The scent of cooked vegetable floated upstairs and Sarah felt dizzy with hunger. She sat up and looked around the room. The shirt she wore was downstairs and she could not possibly go downstairs naked. Frowning slightly she glanced at the wardrobe. Standing she used the basin of water and a washcloth to clean herself the best way she could. She walked over to the wardrobe and opened the front doors. What she saw took her completely by surprise. There were several dresses hanging in the wardrobe. The dresses appeared well made and of European design. Sarah noticed a dark green dress with gold threading. It looked similar to the one in her nightmare. She light caressed the soft fabric of the dress. It felt warm to her touch and familiar to her. She rubbed her cheek against a sleeve and the dress became warmer. Sarah thought it was odd, but the dress called out to her. She heard the dress whisper a name, 'Jessica'. Downstairs Adam busied himself with cooking the vegetable and venison. He heard a soft rustling from behind him, coming down the stairs. Turning around he froze. The spoon dropped from his hand clattering on the ground. His jaw dropped in shock as his eyes widen. "Is everything ok," Sarah asked when she saw the shocked expression on his face, "I found the dress in the wardrobe and thought it would be okay to wear it." Sarah cast her eyes to the ground and blushed. Adam stood stunned, the dress looked magnificent on Sarah, and it fit her snuggly and enhanced her beauty. His breath caught in his throat as the vision of Jessica wearing that same dress assaulted his memory. It caused Adam to stumble backwards against a cabinet. "Adam, is everything okay?" Sarah asked again, with concern, "You look as if you have seen a ghost." "Jessica?" Adam whispered his face going pale. "What did you say?" Sarah asked confused by his response, looking at his pale face, and remembering the dress calling out that name. "That dress belonged to Jessica." Adam answered swallowing hard and shaking his head to clear the fog. "Je...Jessica?" Sarah repeated turning her head to the side as her hair fell in front of her face. She felt a tear running down her cheek. "Sarah," Adam said softly as he put a hand under her chin and turned head to face him, "Jessica was my betrothed." Sarah jerked her head away suddenly and took a step back putting her hand to her mouth to stifle a gasp. 'How could he be betrothed to another woman? We made love.' Sarah thought as another tear fell from her cheek. She felt her heart break and let out a sob. "Do...do...you love me," Sarah said in a small voice. "Or are you using me?" "Jes...Sarah," Adam said grimacing. He knew he had said the wrong thing. "I should leave," Sarah said feeling confused and embarrassed. Numbly she turned around to leave. "This was all a mistake." She sobbed loudly feeling her shoulder tremble. Adam grabbed Sarah by the arm, "Sarah let me explain," He held on to her arm firmly, but not tightly. Sarah turned her head with tears streaming down her face. She saw the deep concern on his face. Sarah pulled her arm out of his grip and sat down at the table. She sat on the other side away from him. Adam sighed and sat down facing her. "Sarah where do I begin," Adam sighed deeply, "Jessica was my wife to be. We were young and lived in the forest in the south. Jessica loved the forest, she felt as if she was born of nature as she always reminded me." Adam smiled at the memory. Sarah gasped and jumped as if someone poked her, 'I heard that same thing.' She thought. She could not remember ever telling Adam about what Lilith had said to her. Adam continued, "One night I was out hunting in the forest and felt an odd sensation. Something felt wrong back at the cabin. I ran back to the cabin as fast as I could." Sarah noticed Adam clenching his fist and his breathing became short. She saw tears in his golden eyes and he swallowed hard. "I walked into our cabin and..." Sarah noticed Adam struggling with the memory. She saw the whites of his knuckles standing out. Something horrible had happened to Adam. She felt drawn to him and stood up rushing to his side. She sat down next to Adam and placed her arm around his shaking body. When she touched him, she felt an electric shock past between them. Suddenly she felt herself pulled into the memory as everything when dark. Sarah opened her eyes and saw herself standing in a cabin. In a panic, she looked around the room. Everything had a sepia color. Sarah rubbed her eyes thinking she was imaging things. She heard a door slam open and younger version of Adam was standing at the front door to the cabin. "Jessica!" Adam cried out entering the room and paled. Sarah looked around the room and gasped. She saw blood everywhere over the walls of the cabin. The blood had an organized pattern of symbols. Strangely, Sarah could read the symbols of blood. "Azazel, watcher, fallen, Nephilim. We bring you out of the darkness and back into the light." Sarah whispered the words. The same words spoken as she lied pinned to the forest floor. 'How can I read these symbols?' Sarah thought breathing heavily. She watched as Adam dropped his bow and ran into the bedroom. He ran right past Sarah not even noticing her. Sarah quickly followed Adam. "Jessica!" Adam cried out in desperation. 'I'm seeing his memories,' Sarah thought understanding what had happened when she touched Adam. As Sarah entered the bedroom, she gasped in horror. In the bedroom, Sarah saw a young woman with golden hair spread eagle and tied to the bed. Sarah felt bile rise in her throat. Her hands when up to her mouth as she cried out in silent horror. She glanced over to see Adam frozen in horror and rage. Sarah saw Jessica's mutilated body with symbols cut into her skin. The symbols spelled out the same message, which Sarah had seen on the cabin walls. 'Azazel, watcher, fallen, Nephilim. We bring you out of the darkness and into the light.' To Sarah's utter amazement, Jessica was still alive. Her chest ripped open and her beating heart exposed. As Sarah watched, she felt the pain of the cuts and a deeper pain in her chest. The pain caused her to stagger and she fell against the wall holding her hand over her heart. 'How am I feeling this?' Sarah thought gritting her teeth against the pain. She noticed Adam drop to his knees crying. She looked closely at his Jessica with blood matted in her golden hair and her deep blue eyes flecked with gold. Sarah gasped again as the golden color became brighter and overshadowed the deep blue. 'Jessica is me and I'm Jessica.' Sarah thought feeling a strange connection with the woman dying on the bed. It was difficult to believe, 'But I was Jessica.' She felt the blood drain from her face at this revelation. Sarah had failed to notice it before, but Jessica looked directly at Sarah and then moved her eyes to look at something else. Sarah followed her gaze and cried out. A woman stood over Jessica with a glassy black knife engraved with symbols. The woman with her raven black hair and deep blue eyes held the knife. 'That is my mother, but that is impossible.' Sarah thought dropping to her knees. Looking at Jessica again, she saw her eyes had turned hazel then golden again. 'Oh god,' and everything made sense to her. The nightmares were her memories from the past. She died several times because her mom wanted to bring back this watcher. Stunned and horrified, Sarah pulled herself up against the wall watching as her mom held the same knife, Sarah knew all to well, over Jessica's open chest. Jessica stared at Sarah with her golden eyes. 'How is this possible?' Sarah thought feeling her knees go weak again, as she felt lightheaded. Sarah saw her mom grin evilly at Adam and then a flash of brilliant golden light bloomed from Jessica. Sarah felt herself fall backwards and hit the ground as the connection broke. Sarah placed her faces in her hands crying, No, no, no, no!" Sarah screamed repeatedly as she shook her head back and forth. She stood and tripped over the chair. Falling onto her bottom, she pushed herself against the cabinets. She screamed into her hands and shook her head trying to clear her mind of the vision. Adam shook his head trying to clear his eyes and heard Sarah screaming. He turned and rushed to her side trying to hold her with tears in his eyes. "Don't touch me!" Sarah screamed kicking out at Adam and pressing herself against the cabinets, trying to get away. Sarah shielded herself from Adam as the image of Jessica mutilated body stuck in her mind. She saw the knife held by her mom over Jessica's heart. The vision faded and she saw herself pinned to the forest floor as her wrist ached from the pain. Then she saw the vision from her own eyes as the baby. The man called Jacob held her calling her Sarah with his dying breath. Then she realized the man who held her dying body in the forest was Adam. "Sarah, what's the matter." Adam asked worried as he watched Sarah kicking out at him and screaming. He felt helpless to do anything for her. Sarah held her head in her hands, sobbing loudly and screaming. all the nightmares coming back into her mind, but every time it was through her eyes. The horror of her death was too much to bare. She pulled in her knees and hugged herself as she rocked. "It's not true, it's not true.' Sarah repeated rocked herself. "What is not true, Sarah?' Adam asked worried deeply for her. "That she is everyone that died in her nightmares," A gruffly voice spoke from behind Adam. Adam turned around to see Samuel standing at the front door holding leather bound book and rolled up parchments. "What are you talking about?" Adam looked form Samuel to Sarah in confusion. "Calm her down first," growled Samuel, "We have a lot to discuss." "Adam took a deep breath, lifted Sarah's head, and lightly smacked her across the cheek. Sarah felt the pain across her cheek and looked up suddenly in wide-eyed shock and hurt. Adam stood over her with a pained expression on her face. Sarah stopped repeating the same thing and stared. "Well I guess that is one way to calm someone down." Samuel chuckled. "Sarah," Adam said quietly, "I'm sorry I smacked you, but we need to talk." "I saw everything," Sarah whispered in a horrified voice. Her body trembled, "My mom killed your betrothed. Your betrothed was me." Sarah's voice trailed off. "What is she talking about, Samuel?" Adam looked at Samuel dumbfounded. "Dear god boy," Samuel said throwing the items on the table, "Didn't you hear the woman. Sarah is Jessica and Jessica is Sarah." Giving Adam a look of isn't this obvious. Adam stared at Samuel with a stunned expression as if Samuel had hit Adam across the face. "Now I need you two to sit down, so we can start." Samuel said exasperated. "I need a drink." Adam helped Sarah sit down at the table. Sarah looked pale and troubled. Samuel put some water on the stove to boil and took the food off. Adam glanced over at Sarah, but she looked away hugging herself and rocking in the chair. Once the water boiled he poured tea for them. Samuel rummaged through Adam's pantry until he found an ale casket. Taking down a mug, Samuel poured himself a cup. He sat down at the table and looked at them as both Sarah held herself and Adam held the cup of tea. "This is going to be fun?" Samuel sighed, "Let's get started." Looking over to Sarah, "I know you saw everything happen to Adam and Jessica, because you share a special connection with Adam. It is a bond." Samuel waited to let the information sink in and then continued. "You are the reincarnation of Jessica and you are a white witch." Sarah looked up at Samuel. He was the second person to call her that. Samuel explained, "I see you already know that. I saw you a few years ago in Salem stop a fight between two men. You laid your arm on them, they felt at ease, and they walked off forgetting the argument." "I remember that day." Sarah whispered. "As do I Sarah." Samuel said nodding. "What did you just call her?" Adam blurted out and suddenly stood backing away from the table. "Damn it boy, you heard me!" Samuel yelled, "I know you are not hard of hearing." Samuel leaned back in his chair. "How do you know this?" Adam asked. "Use your head boy." Samuel sighed, "Why do you think those red-eyes monsters want her so badly." Samuel gave Adam a look. Adam looked over at Sarah, "Is this true Sarah? Are you a witch?" "I am a witch." Sarah whispered as she began to cry, "Lilith told me I was born of nature, the white witch who will raise the Nephilim." Adam reached for a knife on the table, but Samuel grabbed his arm, "That would not be wise, boy." Sarah jumped shielding herself with her arms and closing her eyes. Adam tried to move his arm, but his hand dropped the knife. He felt confused as to why his hand would do such a thing. Samuel shook his head and laughed. Then he sat down took a long swallow of the ale and bit into a piece of bread. Adam stood there watching Samuel unroll the parchment. Sarah opened her eyes and lowered her arms. "Sit down Adam," Samuel ordered, "You came to me asking about the Nephilim. I have some disturbing news." "What did you find out?" Adam and Sarah said at the same time. "Sarah is the key to unlocking the Nephilim." Samuel replied. "What is the Nephilim?" Sarah asked speaking for the first time. "It is all explained by a man called Enoch." Samuel said.
