Chapter 2 Vincent

A sweet little treat indeed, Vincent thought, his eyes roving over her from head to toe. "One of my assistants," Vincent explained to Miles. "Nothing to worry about." He was pleased to see the human, despite her obvious fear, was smart enough to remain silent and not argue. Miles wasn't convinced. "You're sure? She doesn't look like your usual. In fact, she looks terrified." He wasn't wrong. The girl was all soft features and wavy blonde hair, nearly the opposite of the usual females Vincent kept. It was also a rare thing for him to have a human aide. "Well, it gets difficult conducting business during the day. I'm sure you understand." It wasn't a lie. It was actually a pain to do everything in late evening and even nights. A human servant would actually be quite useful. "If you don't have a handle on her and she speaks of this...," the Were didn't need to finish his thought. They both knew what would need to happen to anyone who might make the conversation they'd just had, public. Instant execution. "I have her quite in hand, Miles. No need to concern yourself with her. I'll see you out." He turned back to the human. "You too, little shadow. Come along." He led Miles and the human along the corridor toward the main bar room, where his clan was enjoying the human guests of the night. All voluntary, of course. The king would have it no other way given recent issues. Vincent didn’t disagree but implementing the new rules was a pain. Once they were through the corridor, he led Miles to the exit where they parted with another stiff nod before returning his attention to the human, now nearly shaking with fear and possibly excitement. Oh, he thought with a grin, she knew she was in trouble and she liked it. "Where are you taking me?" She finally asked. "Is this the back way out?" Vincent chuckled. "No, little spy. There is no back way out of here. Anyone who enters must be approved." He grinned at her. "Just as anyone who leaves must get clearance. How did you manage admittance?" "Um, well, I might have posed as a desperate fanger." Ugh, how tedious Vincent found that sort. Always begging to get in and be bitten by anyone who would have them. They were little more than addicts seeking out their next hit of the venom that numbed them, not just at the bite, but all over their body. His only bite had been when he was turned and he didn't recall finding it pleasurable. It pleased him that this human had the decency and self respect to be embarrassed by the word. "And are you opposed to being bitten, human?" "Nora," she said. "My name is Nora. And yes, I am opposed to being bitten. I have no interest in being anyone's meal." Brazen, she was, and Vincent was bored enough to admit he liked it. As a Duke, and usually the oldest vampire in any room, he was surrounded by people who sought his approval. It was... refreshing to find someone, and a human at that, who was willing to look him in the eye and assert herself. That may curry her more favor than if she'd merely bowed and groveled like the others. "Normally my servants are willing, but then you didn't come to me in the traditional way, did you?" "How do your servants usually come to you?" She asked. "On their knees," he answered simply. It wasnt a lie. Many humans dropped before him and begged for a place in his clan. Of course most wanted to be turned but only a rare few ever were. "And do they stay there?" Dhe asked. "On their knees?" "Often, yes. You might be surprised by how many enjoy it there." The human, Nora, blushed. If he read her mind, he wondered what he would find. Unfortunately, his mind reading only worked on other vampires. Part of the curse those witches had cast on his clan and many others around here. All their powers were dampened. He hated that he left him weak, especially when other dukes were due to visit in the near future. How they liked to gloat over his weakness. "I don't expect there will be anyone coming here to search for you?" He asked. "Of course people will be searching for me. I have coworkers and... friends." He noted the way she said that, as if the friends were an afterthought. Also she made no mention of family. He wondered if she had any or if she was as alone as he had been. Not that it mattered. Now that they had some proper light, he took her in fully. Her face was beautiful, distractingly so, even for a human. Clever, bright blue eyes looked back at him, seeming to take him in as well. He wondered if she would find him as attractive as he found her as he glanced down her body finding a tight black corset, similar to the ones real fangers worse, pushing up her pale, ample cleavage. She certainly looked the part and he was surprised she had managed to go unnoticed long enough to get back to the meeting room. Her thighs were barely covered by the lacy, black skirt that ended several inches above her knees. Yes, he thought, erection growing, there were many places a vampire would want to bite her. "Are your fangs out?" She asked, unafraid. She'd noticed then. He wondered if she knew that elongated fangs could signal thirst or arousal. She wasn't looking lower, at the bulge of his tight leather pants, so he guessed she wasn't aware. "Vincent?" Clara, one of his more common bed mates, came around the corner. "I've been looking for you. I saw the wolf left." She leaned against the doorframe, unaware of Nora pressed against the wall behind her, and ran a finger slowly up her inner thigh suggestively. "I thought you might be tense." Indeed he was, with his erection pressing against his pants and upper fangs poking his lower lip. And while Clara looked good as always, he knew she wouldnt satisfy him this time. "Clara, meet Nora, the newest addition to the clan." Clara started when she realized someone else was present, someone she didn't know. Her eyes moved up and down Nora, no doubt taking her stock and weighing her threat potential. Apparently she found none because she turned her back on her, a grave offense for vampires, and looked back to me. "Shall I drop her off with the others and come back to you? I can meet you in your room." "That won't be necessary. Nora will be staying in my room for the night." Clara jolted. "I'll take her there myself and find you after." Leaving Clara behind, I waved Nora ahead of me and ushered her toward my private chambers upstairs.
