Freya's Pov
The alarm woke me up from a deep sleep.
It wasn't the fire alarm. It was the border breach alarm, a sound I'd only heard in practice drills.
Dane was already up and moving. He rolled out of bed and pulled on his clothes quickly and smoothly. His eyes glowed gold in the dark.
"What's going on?" I asked, my heart pounding.
"Someone crossed the border. In the western area." His voice was short and sharp. He was in full Alpha mode. "Stay inside the packhouse."
"Dane..."
"Please, Freya. Just this time, stay safe." He gave me a quick kiss, then left.
I sat there for about thirty seconds before I jumped up and grabbed my own clothes.
No way was I staying behind while my mate ran into danger.
The western border was total chaos when I got there.
