I was not supposed to hear it.
I was walking past Marcus’s study to get breakfast when Selene’s voice stopped me.
“She is a weakness.”
My feet would not move. I knew I should keep walking. I should leave them alone. But I stayed.
“She is my mate,” Dane said hard.
“A mate you did not finish. A bond you did not seal. A woman who does not know our world.”
Every word hurt my tummy.
“How can she lead us in a war?” Selene said.
I pushed myself to the wall. I could not breathe good.
