I woke up to bright sunshine coming through the curtains. Dane's arm was wrapped around my waist, holding me close.
For a little while, I just lay there quietly. I watched tiny specks of dust dancing in the light. My body felt a little sore, but in a happy way. It reminded me of all the nice things we did last night. Every hug and kiss still felt new and special.
The bond between us, was calm and cozy, even though we hadn't finished making it complete yet.
Not complete yet.
That thought made me remember everything. What I asked for last night. How he said no. And his promise: "Ask me tomorrow."
Well, today was tomorrow.
I turned slowly in his arms so I wouldn't wake him. When he was sleeping, he looked younger and softer. The serious boss face was gone. He was just the man I loved.
