Chapter Five: Hatred

1548 Words
“Unbelievable! Your husband’s mistress really has the nerve, Allyna! I can’t believe she was even the one acting arrogant toward you when she’s clearly the one at fault!” Jessa said, her body trembling with anger. Shane and her bodyguards had just left. Jessa even had to get a glass of water for her friend because Allyna was shaking uncontrollably, and intense fury was visible in her eyes. And Jessa knew that if she were in her friend’s situation, she would probably feel exactly the same way. In fact, Allyna was still being kind because she managed to restrain herself from attacking that shameless woman. If it had happened to Jessa, she would have already lunged at Shane—especially since the woman had the audacity to step into her territory! But she knew Allyna well. She understood that her friend was holding herself back because she was also thinking about their parents. The elderly couple might not be able to handle seeing Allyna fighting, especially if it turned physical. “Allyna… calm down. You might get sick because of this. Just let them be… your marriage with Ram will be annulled soon anyway, right?” Jessa said worriedly. “It hurts so much, Jessa… I wish Ram had just told me properly that he didn’t love me anymore instead of treating me like a filthy rag he could simply throw away after using! I never thought Ram could do this to me!” Allyna cried between sobs. “Maybe that’s just how men are, Allyna… not all of them, but many can’t stay content with just one woman. What’s worse is that we never expected Ram to do this to you. I saw how hard he fought for you before… I guess Shane was really the one who destroyed the two of you.” They were in the middle of their conversation when Allyna’s phone suddenly rang. She missed the call, but based on the call history, it was Ram. A text message followed shortly after. “We need to talk, Allyna…” Ram also sent the address of a restaurant where they would meet. The message was short, but it was enough to make her heart pound rapidly. It felt as though something was lodged in her throat, suffocating her until she could no longer breathe. Her eyes burned, and she didn’t even realize tears were already streaming down her cheeks. What Ram had done shattered her heart completely. Life was so unfair to her. After giving her whole self to Ram and taking care of their relationship, it would all end in separation. Maybe they should never have gotten married in the first place. Maybe he should never have shown her kindness from the beginning… so she wouldn’t have fallen for him. For what? Just to end up hurting in the end?! Her heart continued beating wildly as she wondered if the anger inside her was enough to make her accept Ram’s betrayal. And the answer was no. She couldn’t accept that someone like Shane would become the reason her husband destroyed the beautiful relationship they once had. A sudden nervousness consumed her when she realized they were about to see each other. She didn’t want to appear weak. If she refused to face him, it would be like admitting to Shane that she was a loser. And she would never allow herself to look pitiful in the eyes of those two traitors. If Ram could abandon her so easily, then she would face him bravely. She had no other choice but to pretend to be strong even though, deep inside, she was completely broken. She had no intention of begging Ram to stay anymore. No matter how difficult it would be to continue living, she would force herself to move forward because all she felt now was overwhelming anger. Her heart was filled with rage and resentment. And since it seemed Shane and Ram weren’t yet satisfied with hurting her that day, she had no choice but to stand strong. She would not back down from Ram. Perhaps it was better this way so they could finally talk about ending their marriage. So she could tell him that if he no longer wanted her, then she no longer wanted him either. After everything Shane had done, Allyna’s hatred toward Ram only grew stronger. She couldn’t believe he allowed Shane to treat her that way. “Sis… are you really going to talk to Ram? I don’t think you’re okay,” Jessa said worriedly. “Do you want me to come with you?” she added. “No, Jessa… I’ll face Ram alone.” They met at a well-known restaurant in Tagaytay. It was close to where they lived, which was probably why Ram chose the place. Perhaps he also couldn’t bring himself to personally come to their house because he wanted to avoid hearing accusations from her parents. Allyna knew her father was holding himself back too. She couldn’t promise he wouldn’t say hurtful things to Ram if they faced each other—Ram, the man she would soon call her ex-husband. Her eyes searched around until she finally found the man who had occupied her thoughts all day. Ram was seated in the farthest corner of the restaurant. His expression was serious. “Don’t worry, Ram… you’ll soon be single. You and your mistress can finally be happy together,” Allyna screamed silently in her mind. She took a deep breath and discreetly glanced at him before finally entering. Ram’s anxiety was obvious as he repeatedly checked his wristwatch. He was only wearing jeans and a polo shirt, yet his good looks still stood out. Once again, Allyna scolded herself because, deep inside, she knew she still missed him. As much as she hated to admit it, she was struggling to adjust every single day. “I’m sorry for making you wait,” Allyna said coldly. Ram wanted to help her sit down, but Allyna gestured that she could manage on her own and didn’t need his help. “I’m so sorry, Allyna,” Ram said once she finally sat down. “Sorry for what?” she replied coldly. “For… hurting you…” “Let’s make this simple, Ram. I know you can’t wait to be free so you and Shane can finally be together.” “You know that’s not true, Allyna. There’s nothing going on between us.” “I wanted so badly to believe you the first time you said that, Ram… but I can’t keep lying to myself.” “There’s no relationship between us, Allyna. I only got a backup phone so you wouldn’t get mad whenever you saw me talking to her. You know we’re business partners, right? It’s normal for us to communicate often… but that’s all it was. Nothing more!” “She even brought all my things from the house! I can’t believe you let her do all of that!” Allyna accused. “What?! Believe me, I didn’t know about that. Mom… Allyna, I left them at our house yesterday. I slept at the condo… Could it be…” “Could it be that your mother and Shane packed all my things?! I don’t even know what to believe anymore, Ram!” “I… I don’t love Shane, Allyna. I still love you. You’re the one I love!” “You don’t love Shane? Then did something happen between the two of you? Shane wouldn’t act that way if she didn’t have something to hold onto, Ram!” Allyna demanded bitterly, desperately searching for the truth from his own mouth. Ram couldn’t answer. He lowered his gaze. “Answer me, Ram… I’m right, aren’t I?!” Allyna desperately tried to stop the tears threatening to fall, but she failed. As the tears streamed down her face, so did the pain she had been trying so hard to hide because she refused to show weakness. “Babe, I’m sorry… I was weak—” Ram said in a trembling voice. That was all it took for Allyna to slap him hard across the face. “I loved you sincerely, Ram. I was faithful to you. You promised you would never hurt me!” “Sorry, babe… I’m sorry… please, let’s fix this. I’ll talk to Mom and Dad. I’ll end the partnership with Shane. Please… I can’t lose you. It only happened once, babe… I was drunk. It never happened again! We never really had a relationship… I was drunk, Allyna. I don’t even know how it happened—” “I was right all along. All you ever did was deny everything, Ram. It hurts so much! It’s like you’ve been killing me over and over again!” “Babe… I’m sorry for everything I said. I was scared to admit the truth from the beginning because I didn’t want to lose you. Please believe me… I never meant for anything to happen between us. I was drunk. It only happened once—” “I don’t care if it only happened once, Ram. You still cheated on me. You still betrayed me! It’s better if we separate now. There’s no hope left for us to fix this anymore, Ram!”
