Ram and Allyna had a simple wedding. If it had been up to Allyna, that was exactly what she wanted. She didn’t like extravagant weddings because she wasn’t comfortable socializing with Ram’s wealthy family and friends.
She also had a feeling that her in-laws wouldn’t want a grand wedding either, because people would surely talk about where she came from. As a simple girl with no wealth to boast, she knew she didn’t fit into their world.
If she thought about it, she really was mismatched with the man she loved.
Ram was like the sky, and she was the earth.
Her family lived a simple life. Her parents, Aling Rebeca and Mang Carding, were used to modest living. That was how they had always lived.
But Ram… her husband was born with a golden spoon in his mouth. He was known and respected in society.
How did they even end up together when their worlds were so different?
Allyna could clearly feel that her mother-in-law, Doña Paula Contreras, did not fully accept her—but she chose to ignore it. In her heart, her love for Ram was stronger than anything else.
Even though she could feel the resistance from Ram’s parents about their marriage, they couldn’t do anything about it because they didn’t want to upset Ram. She also saw how Ram fought for her, and for Allyna, that was enough proof that he truly loved her.
Years passed, and Allyna slowly got used to the cold treatment from Ram’s parents, especially his mother. She couldn’t understand why, even after all those years, she still couldn’t fully be accepted as Ram’s wife. She kept all of this hidden from her own family because she didn’t want to burden them—and besides, she and Ram were doing fine.
To Allyna, that was what mattered most. Ram’s love.
Until the moment she feared finally came.
“What? What do you mean, Ram?” Allyna asked, her voice full of hurt.
“I have no choice, Allyna… Mama and Papa want us to partner with Shane for the expansion of the mall in Cebu.”
“No choice? I’m not comfortable with you being with Shane!” Allyna said firmly, holding back tears.
“Babe… you know we’re businessmen. I’m an only child. It’s natural that I manage our businesses. Shane’s family has been our business partner since we were young. I can’t refuse this partnership… we need them. I hope you understand,” Ram explained, clearly struggling.
They had been going back and forth about this, but it seemed Allyna’s mind was already closed.
“Yes… and that woman is your ex-girlfriend. She still likes you, Ram. I’m a woman—I can feel it when she looks at you. I can see it in her eyes,” Allyna said through tears.
She could no longer control her emotions.
What was she supposed to feel?
Wasn’t her trust in her husband enough? Why did she keep doubting him?
The tears she had been holding back finally fell.
Ram stepped closer and looked straight into her eyes.
“Babe… you’re just overthinking. My past with Shane is over. Aren’t you the one I married?”
“But what if you get tempted, Ram?!”
“That won’t happen! Look at me… do I look like I would cheat on you? I’m the one who loves you the most,” he said with a teasing smile.
“Ram… I don’t know if I should let you be around her… but I’m telling you now—I don’t trust her,” Allyna said, still sobbing.
Ram sat on the bed and pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.
“Babe… there’s nothing between me and Shane, okay?”
“Promise me, Ram… I trust you… don’t ever break that trust.”
Allyna had no choice but to accept what was happening.
Even if she wanted to stop Ram from going to Cebu with Shane, she couldn’t.
What could Allyna Velarde possibly do?
Nothing.
All she could do was love, care for, and serve her husband.
Ram became extremely busy with work. He was pressured by his parents regarding the mall expansion, and as their only son, he wanted to prove himself worthy.
He wanted to show them that he deserved their trust.
Soon, Ram had less and less time for Allyna. He couldn’t even bring her to Cebu because he kept going back to Manila for work.
Slowly, misunderstandings grew between them. Trust turned into doubt, and love turned into resentment.
Allyna felt that it wasn’t just work that was occupying her husband’s time… there was something else.
“Babe, I’m going to sleep. I’m really tired,” Ram said one night after arriving from Cebu. Instead of going home directly, he had stopped by his parents’ house first to report business updates with Shane.
Before Allyna could respond, he had already showered and fallen asleep.
He didn’t even kiss her goodnight.
And that hurt deeply.
She had waited all day for him. She cooked for him. They were supposed to have dinner together… but everything she prepared felt ignored.
It hurt so much.
Her chest felt tight, like it was being crushed.
As she watched Ram sleep peacefully, she didn’t want to doubt him—but her mind was already full of suspicion.
Slowly, she searched through his things… but found nothing.
No evidence.
No answers.
Only more confusion.
Why was she doubting him like that?
What was she even looking for?
Then she remembered his phone.
Ever since Shane came back, Ram never let her touch it anymore. It had often caused fights between them whenever she saw messages from Shane—even if they were only about work.
Could she really blame Ram for wanting privacy?
Or was it wrong for her to interfere?
She took a deep breath, her chest heavy.
Then she grabbed Ram’s car keys.
Something inside her was pushing her.
She needed to know the truth.
In the garage, she opened his car and searched carefully. At first, she only found receipts and papers.
But her heart wouldn’t stop pounding.
Using her phone flashlight, she checked under the driver’s seat.
And then—
She saw it.
Something hidden underneath.
She pulled it out.
A phone.
“God… Ram has another phone? Why?” she whispered in shock.
She tried to think maybe it was locked… but to her surprise, it opened easily.
And what she saw shattered her world.
Messages between Ram and Shane… sweet conversations… photos of them together… places they went… restaurants they shared.
And they talked almost every day.
While she… his wife… barely received a call.
She had waited all day for him… but he never even thought of her.
It felt like a bomb exploding in her chest over and over again.
She wanted to scream. She wanted to cry.
But she couldn’t move.
Ram had lied to her.
Her husband had betrayed her.
