74. Escaping

Deidra   The group of rogues went towards the Dungeon. I was waiting, observing from afar. They killed the only three guards who were securing the Realm’s main prison’s gate and went inside. That seemed easy, too easy.  I heard some screams and noises and two more guards walked towards the dungeon and entered it before I could paralyse them with a spell. Vampire’s speed is always hard to deal with. I waited anxiously for some minutes. At least no more guards came, the security of this lair is indeed lousier than I’d imagined.  I breathed relieved when I saw most of the rogues coming back, bringing some of their companions that they insisted on rescuing as well. What could I say? The more the merrier, and Broadrick with them. One of the guards also came by it wasn’t hard to bring him to our side, he was underpaid and unsatisfied with his uncaring King.  At least this time these rogues did everything as I said. We didn’t lose any time; I opened a portal and we escaped this Realm with Broadrick. We did a small portal tour around some of the most diverse of the places, with the assistance of some powerful runes I’ve acquired over the years, I couldn’t have Alexus following my magic signature and tracking us. I’ve risked too much; I was too close to let a loose end be my downfall. Everything was going as planned, with the rescued prisoners we would have reinforcement and only four rogue vampires were killed in the venture. We still had enough people to make IT work.  This time it would work, I was paving my way to finally have all the power and riches that I deserve. I might not become a queen, but at least I would live as one and have all the magic power money could buy. And better than that, I wouldn’t need a man by my side to draw the power from. The power would be mine, would be me.  Soon. * Even after I rescued him, the ungrateful man eyed me with an expression of disgust. I sighed, hopefully soon I wouldn’t need him anymore. I wouldn’t need anyone. I would be rich enough to buy my own Sugar Baby and wouldn’t ever have to take this vamp-sexist non-sense anymore.    ~ * ~   Broadrick   “Why did you rescue me? Why are you helping me?” I asked looking intently at Deidra.  I had to know what that woman had in mind, what secret interest moved her to organize these rogues and rescued me. What did she have to gain? It must be good enough for her to take the risk and come for me. Lately, she wasn’t on the best terms with Alexus, and after what she did today, she would surely be on the worst terms possible with him.  “I believe we can help each other; we have some interests in common.” She said nonchalantly.  “No, we don’t!” I affirmed drily, sneering at her.  I had nothing in common with this low social climber wench.  “Maybe something related to a sweet little hybrid girl will change your mind.” She replied with her sickening smile.  “What about Lea?” I asked almost jumping just after listening to the wench mentioning my Lea.  My Lea, my precious doll, perfect toy, and blood bag.  “You see, I knew you would be interested. If we act together and act smart you can have your sweet time with her, and I, we both, could have money and power.” She said with that artificial smile still plastered on her face.  “Is that the only reason your f*****g wench? What else?” I didn’t buy a thing that minx was saying. Why she would need my help to achieve her power-hunger plot. Why me?  She sighed deeply, “I tried to ask these idiotic rogue vampires to assist me, to make a mutually beneficial agreement. But they said that they wouldn’t follow orders from a witch. That’s where you come. You and your rogues help me, we can form our own small rogue’s army. Act together, share the money, runes, and potions that we will obtain, and as a plus, you can finally have your little hybrid.” She explained.  “And how could we get this money and magic? More importantly, how can I put my hands on Lea? She’s always with her mates, she’s untouchable.” I retorted.  This woman was insane, it wouldn’t ever work. I wanted my doll, but I knew well that her little plan would only lead me back to a dungeon or worse than that, to my ruin.  “Oh dear, we will find a way. She can’t be with them around the clock, can she? If it was the case, she wouldn’t have been kidnaped not only once, but twice. If we wait and do it right, you will finally be able to have what you want, and so will I.”  Deidra replied.  A smile spread across my face at the thought of finally being able to be with her, having no one in our way. And I will make it come true, even if for that I had to work with that Deidra b*tch. ~ * ~   Alexus   When I went back to my Realm, I went to the dungeon to pay a visit to Broadrick. Every time I saw my Lea, I felt even more drawn to her. And to my surprise, I wasn’t only drawn in the bloodlust and carnal level. It was something about her. Thus, every time I saw her, my anger and rage towards Broadrick grew tenfold and I had to have my revenge, to make him pay, piece by piece, pain by pain.  When I arrived in the dungeon, I was astonished to see three decapitated guards by the Dungeon main gate and a trail of blood. Fresh blood. What in the bloodless hell? Inside the Dungeon, there were nine more corpses and a semi-alive guard. Four of the dead bodies belonged to rogue low ranked vampires, which normally shouldn’t be able to kill the elite guards who were guarding this Dungeon. Killing a vampire is not easy, let alone elite ones. The rogues’ bodies had a light belladonna smell, they were under a spell. The dirty hands of a witch or wizard were involved in this mess.  I walked further inside the Dungeon, assessing the chaos. I should have placed soldiers, warriors on patrol, not these lazy and good-for-nothing guards. I needed a new second in command to take care of such matters. Fury exploded in my body when I saw it. Besides two other cells, Broadrick’s cell was forced-open and empty. Bloodless 6th Pit of Hell! He escaped!  I let out an enraged growl, I should have killed that scum! I mind-linked some elite guards to come here, how could those idiots let it slide?  They were here in no time; they knew better than feed my wrath.  “Your Majesty?” one of them said, looking agape at the state of the dungeon. They haven’t even noticed that the prisoners escaped. I must have better security in this blasted den!  “How did you let it happen? How?” I asked as my fangs went down, I rarely found myself that visibly enraged. It wasn’t my style. I was more for ice than fire.  The imbecile that I have as a top elite guard didn’t utter a word, just looked clumsy and petrified with terror. I could smell the adrenaline pumping in his blood, I could smell his and the other guards’ fear.   “Don’t even waste my time making me explain it. Find Broadrick and those who helped him escape. A witch or wizard was involved. Track their magic signature! Interrogate the remaining prisoners about what and who they saw here. Install cameras in this hall, by the dungeon’s gate and antechamber. Get a Sorcerer to cast some restraining and shield spells in the dungeon’s entrance. That can’t happen again!” “Yes, your majesty.” The group of guards bowed down. I could hear the sound of their relieved breathes; they were lucky I didn’t want to waste time punishing them.  “Move!” I exclaimed, making them jump and move swiftly.  I left furious. I would have Broadrick killed as soon as they bring him to me, I wouldn’t give him time to inhale any further breath.   ~ * ~     Lea   Valentin and I went to visit my sweet niece, Aurora, at Liv’s house. I was all over the baby, my Sun and I came here to visit her 4 days ago, but I already missed her cute little face.  We entered the living room in a flash, and I didn’t lose any time before asking about Aurora.  “How is my niece?” I asked with a huge grin.  “Hey, Liv, how are you?... They don’t even ask it anymore.” Liv grumbled under her breath, making me chuckle.  I hugged my sister and asked her, mimicking her voice. “Hey, Liv, how are you?”  “Fine, thanks! And yourself?” She smiled at me “The baby just fell asleep.”  “I am fine too. But I already miss the little one.” I replied with a little pout.  “How are you all?” Valentin asked, he was so sweet to always come here with me.  “We are fine. We could definitely use some more sleep.” Avalon answered politely. “Lots of it,” Liv added.  “Little sweetie will wake up any time soon, Lelea,” Laius said as he greeted me with a fast hug, and I smiled at him. After Laius came back home and made up with my stubborn sister, he said once again that he was sorry for what he did, freeing Alexus, and that he didn’t want any harm to come to me. He didn’t even have to say anything. I knew he wouldn’t ever do anything to hurt me in any way. I knew he considered me family, as much as I considered him so. I knew that he was even protective towards me and saw me like a little girl or a baby sister.  And actually, in the end, it was better that Alexus was free. I couldn’t bear to see him in a dungeon, seeing him suffering would always bring a pang to my heart.  ~ * ~     Liv   “I can examine you, see if you are fully recovered from the delivery.” Valentin offered.   But my extra cautious mates, Laius and Avalon, blocked Valentin’s way.  “Let fairy-guy do his thing, you overbearing men!” I said with a little scowl.  But it didn’t work at all. Laius only growled at Valentin and Avalon wrapped an arm around me possessively.  “No, he’s not getting closer to you,” Laius said, making me roll my eyes at him. Seriously? Why did they have to be such Alpha males outside of the bedroom as well?  “He has touched you enough in the last months,” Avalon added. I sighed deeply. My butthead mates had become even more possessive since they learned I was carrying my child and apparently, they haven’t come back to normal. Not that their ‘normal’ was good enough. “I’m her sister’s mate. I just want to check how she is.” Valentin explained raising his hands in surrender. Poor fairy-guy he had to put up with those mad mates of mine.  Lea shook her head at my mates. For sure she knew that hers, especially a certain Wolf, wasn’t any better. Even though Valentin was a sweet-fairy-pie and was pretty much showering the floor Lea walked on with roses’ petals and whatnot.  “The dude will only touch my shoulders. It’s not like he will see me naked.” I uttered growing annoyed. There was only so much I could take.  Laius's eyes started glowing red and his jaw locked. Avalon growled and flashed me a dirty look.  I sighed deeply again, Goddess of the overbearing mates, give me patience! Since you couldn’t give me more mentally stable men.   “Come on mates!” I protested, folding my arms in front of my chest.  “He should check on her, what if there is something wrong with her?” Lea said, trying to appeal to their rational side. Ha, as if there was any.  But I love those batshit crazy males! What could I do? The heart wants what the freaking heart wants.  Laius growled but moves away from me, letting Valentin get closer to my person.  I flashed Avalon a ‘seriously?’ look and he moved a bit away from me. A bit. The two of them still kept me in arm's reach.  Yeah, fairy-guy was so dangerous with his flowers and healing mojo. No, better than that, he was so into his mate’s sister. What were my men even thinking? Valentin touched both of my shoulders and closed his eyes, letting his energy enter my body slowly. These check-ups were quite funny, I could feel his warm energy going through all my inner stuff, from my heart to my stomach.  Suddenly, he opened his eyes widely and looked at me and my mates. Crap! Something wasn’t right! Fairy guy was looking as shocked as someone who was hit by thunder. I gazed back at him nervously.  Laius growled lowly again, “Is anything wrong with her?” I could hear the tension in his voice and through our bond, as his eyes started to glow red.
